If passed, new bombshell proposal could keep Donald Trump president until 2032

The United States could witness a monumental shift under the leadership of Donald Trump, the famous business magnate who turned to politics. Since taking office, Trump has rapidly set about fulfilling many of his campaign promises, such as withdrawing from the World Health Organization and renaming the Gulf of Mexico. These actions have been carried out through a series of executive orders.

During his inauguration speech, Trump boldly proclaimed, “The golden age of America begins right now,” envisioning himself as both a “peacemaker and a unifier.”

Many believe that the sweeping changes Trump aims for may require more than the typical four-year presidential term to achieve.

To address this, Congressman Andy Ogles has put forth a House Joint Resolution to amend the U.S. Constitution. This proposal suggests allowing a president to serve up to three terms, thereby extending Trump’s potential influence and tenure.

Ogles elaborated on his website, “President Trump’s decisive leadership is in stark contrast to the recent years of chaos, suffering, and economic downturn. His ability to halt our nation’s decline and restore its greatness is unmatched, and he must be given the necessary time to fully realize these goals.”

Thus, the proposed amendment seeks to revise the 22nd Amendment’s limitation on presidential terms, enabling President Trump to possibly serve three terms. This change, Ogles argues, would ensure the continuity of bold leadership that he believes the nation urgently needs.

As it stands today, the 22nd Amendment restricts any president from serving more than two terms, a rule ratified in 1951 which came in the wake of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s unique four-term presidency. Roosevelt remains the only U.S. president to have served more than two terms.

Ogles further emphasized the need to provide President Trump with the resources required to address what he terms the “disastrous course set by the Biden Administration.”
