This 2000s Heartthrob Was Just Arrested a Year After Opening up About ‘Health Scare’ – Users Are Stunned by His Gray Hair & Beard
This TV personality says his wife saved him after a “weird experience.” Additionally, he has had legal issues.
The veteran actor became famous in the 2000s for his part in “Smallville.” He now sports gray hair and a goatee, impressing admirers years after the series ended.
The actor’s Hollywood career took an unexpected turn early on. He moved to Los Angeles at 23 to get commercial and modeling work. He had a six-episode “Judging Amy” arc in 2000.
Eventually, I got ‘Smallville,’ and that was it. In an interview, the actor said he spent 10 years in Vancouver.
In its decade-long run on The WB before relocating to The CW, “Smallville” generated over 200 action-packed episodes. He succeeded with the play, but leading a big production was daunting.
“I spent ten years where my life was 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. on set,” the TV star said. His busy schedule cut him off from family across the country. “I just put my head in a hole and basically blocked everybody and everything out,” he said to cope.
After a decade of relentless work, leaving “Smallville” in 2011 gave him time to reflect. Once filming ended, he headed to his East Coast beach house, a customary refuge from his summer hiatuses.
“I needed a break,” he said. “I needed to understand my thoughts. I needed some adjustments to come back into real life and make up for lost time. ‘Guys, I’m out of here.’”
The escape that recharged him no longer did. “The two months you spend at the beach loses some of its intrinsic value when you don’t have anything you’re running away from or have to go back to,” the Hollywood star said.
He felt like he had retired in the quiet, forcing him to face what came next. “It woke me up. But it had to happen, he said.
After “Smallville,” his personal life changed too. During and after the show, he married model Jamie White. A decade after their July 2002 marriage, they divorced in November 2015.
His 2019 settlement required him to pay spousal support for five years, but the amount was unspecified. He had to give White 20% of his net professional income, but anything over $5 million was his.
His acting career continued after the split, with roles in “Draft Day.” He and White owned multiple properties and luxury cars, according to court documents. She kept most of the horses and he kept Tomahawk for the settlement.
Amid professional stability and personal changes, he found love again. In November 2019, the celebrity married Jessica Rose Lee, and they welcomed two sons.
In June 2021, the mother of the Hollywood star’s children introduced their youngest son to the world on Instagram, “Rocklin Von, welcome to your family.”
By May 2024, the delighted mother of two posted a family portrait on the platform, commenting, “grateful for these guys that made me a mama [sic].”
That same year, her famous husband, Tom Welling, faced a serious health scare, which he later opened up about on the “Inside of You Clips” podcast. The “Cheaper by the Dozen” star noted the support he received from those closest to him, “Jessica kind of, literally saved my life.”
His parents went to be by his side, while co-star and podcast presenter Michael Rosenbaum visited him in the hospital. During the conversation, Welling showed his gratitude, thanking Rosenbaum for being there during a difficult moment.
He stated that the visit allowed him to go through the “frustrations” he was dealing with while he healed. The event could have been far worse, but fate — and his wife — were on his side.
“My wife Jessica was standing to my right. If I had fallen to my left, there would’ve been more terrible consequences,” Welling recalled. Instead, he toppled to the right, and she helped lead him to the ground. By the time he regained consciousness, he was already in the hospital.
Fortunately, he totally recovered. However, he acknowledged that his wife, who was pregnant with their oldest son, Thomson Welling, experienced the hardship considerably more. He said, “I was unconscious, so she had to deal with the situation more than I did.”
A year after disclosing his health crisis, Welling faced another obstacle. In January 2025, he was detained in a Yreka, California, Arby’s parking lot after midnight.
Police arrested him for driving under the influence, citing a 0.08 percent blood alcohol level.
At 47, the New Yorker accepts his gray hair and beard. He posted “Mafia Wars” behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram. BTS on #MafiaWars Outstanding cast and staff. Had a great time filming this, hope you enjoyed it!
