Wild moment police officer is knocked out after man allegedly resisting arrest sparks late-night brawl, as three are charged

A police officer was taken to hospital after being knocked out following an alleged assault that resulted in three people being charged.

The officer and two of his colleagues responded to a disturbance at a business in Brisbane‘s Fortitude Valley at 4am on Friday.

It occurred near Brunswick and Wickham Street where police tried to take a man into custody before one of the officers was allegedly punched in the face.

He was then allegedly placed in a chokehold on the ground.

Another officer went to help and was allegedly eye-gouged by one of the women in the group.

As the officer who had been choked got to his feet he was allegedly punched in the head and was knocked out by one of the women.

Footage, obtained by 9News, then showed some of the stricken officer’s colleagues and a member of the public dragging him to safety in the entrance of an Oporto fast food restaurant before more backup arrived.

A 23-year-old Caboolture man, a 19-year-old Seven Hills woman and an 18-year-old Torquay woman, were charged over the incident.

Police said in a statement that a 30-year-old male sergeant, a 56-year-old male senior constable, and a 30-year-old female constable were injured in the alleged attack which police say was unprovoked.

A 23-year-old Caboolture man was charged with two counts of serious assault of a police officer, and one count each of affray in a public place while adversely affected, obstruct police officer.

A 19-year-old Seven Hills woman was charged with two counts of serious assault police officer.

Both appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday.

The 18-year-old Torquay woman was charged with two counts of serious assault police officer.

She will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on February 26.
