Ben Affleck’s ‘Natural’ Response To His Son’s Request For $6,000 Sneakers Was Praised By Fans
Hollywood A-lister Ben Affleck has received plaudits for responding to his son’s interest in $6,000 sneakers in a comparatively “normal” way.
It’s definitely safe to assume that Affleck is familiar with some of the better things in life given his extensive resume of successful films, his friendship circle that includes people like Matt Damon and Jason Momoa, and his $150 million net worth, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
However, a now-viral video shows the celebrity shopping for trainers with his 13-year-old son, Samuel, whom he shares with Jennifer Garner, proving that his kids don’t get what they want.

At a massive sneaker expo in Los Angeles, Affleck is seen following his son as he browses a table full of sneakers in the video, which was posted on the ‘Got Sole’ TikTok page. Samuel is particularly drawn to a pair of Dior Air Force 1 sneakers while he is there; they are believed to cost about $6,000.
Affleck replies with a very grounded, wholesome ‘dad’ remark when another man in the video jokes that he probably wasn’t thrilled with the thought of spending $6,000 on shoes.
“That’s a lot of lawns you gotta mow there,” he retorted.
Affleck also told his son that he only liked the shoes ‘because they’re expensive’, but Samuel insisted it wasn’t just about the price tag as he said: “No, they’re tough! I’ve always said they look good.”
Many of the actor’s fans have responded favorably to Affleck’s suggestion that Samuel must earn his allowance and won’t simply be given anything he wants, with many praising the star in the TikTok comments area.
“Ben worth hundreds of millions and said no. make him earn it good dad,” one person wrote.
Another added: “Gotta give props to ben man. He raised his kid well,” while a third said: “Ben seems so normal.”
Affleck and Garner, who he was married to for ten years before divorcing in 2015, had three children together, including Samuel.
The two now co-parent Violet Anne, 19, Seraphina Rose, 16, and Samuel. Affleck has previously stated openly that his children’s opinions are all that important to him.
In an interview with Good Morning America in December 2021, the dad said: “I will be long dead and someone will ask my kids, ‘What was your dad like?’ and that is when I will know what my life was worth.”
