Tragic Death Of A 4-Year-Old Boy After after Telling Mom ”Under My Arm Hurts”

The most terrible thing happened to what should have been a perfect trip.

A whole family is currently grieving the tragic death of 4-year-old Jaxon Knowles, and they have a crucial message for everyone.

Something went horribly wrong

A young boy’s life was tragically cut short following what should have been a joyful family vacation. However, the nightmare that ensued was unimaginable to any parent.

In an attempt to make enduring memories, Jaxon’s mother, Sammy Knowles, and her husband, Jordan, had taken their kid to Blackpool for a brief vacation. However, on Sunday, February 16, when the family got home, a terrible incident happened.

”Jaxon was complaining about pain under his arm, then fell asleep for a while,” Sammy said, “He woke up saying his tummy hurt,” in an interview with Yorkshire Live.

Later, when Jaxon was not feeling well, he constantly begged to sleep in his mother’s bed. To assist lower his fever, Sammy gave him a small dosage of paracetamol, which usually helped with his frequent chest infections.

However, things had taken a terrible turn by the time she woke up the next morning at around five o’clock.

”I used my phone’s torch to check his temperature, and that’s when I saw the rash,” Sammy explains, her voice quivering. ”At first, I thought it was chickenpox, but when I turned on the lamp, I realized it was much worse.”

Was crying blood

As soon as the rash got worse, Jaxon’s health started to decline.

”His mouth and tongue started swelling, and he threw up. We called 999, and as we waited for the ambulance, he could barely breathe. We had to turn him on his side”

Sammy remembers waiting for medical assistance for what seemed like an eternity.

Jaxon was critically ill by the time they arrived at the hospital. Fifteen medical professionals surrounded the young youngster, doing everything they could.

”They worked on him for hours, but he was crying blood,” Sammy remembers. ”I tried to comfort him by singing his favorite lullabies, but the doctors said they needed to put him in a coma and transfer him to a children’s hospital.”

Unfortunately, Jaxon’s heart stopped despite the medical staff’s valiant attempts, and he died on Monday morning, February 17, after being briefly revived.

”I can’t believe it,” Sammy sais through tears. ”He was fine just hours before. There were no signs, no symptoms of meningitis. It just came out of nowhere.”

Meningococcal illness, a fatal type of bacterial meningitis that mainly affects young children, was eventually determined to be the cause of Jaxon’s death.

”He was our miracle baby,” adds Sammy, unable to contain her tears. ”We spent seven years trying to have him, going through multiple rounds of IVF. After three miscarriages, he was our last hope.”

Making use of their grief to raise awareness

Devastated by the death of their son, the couple is now utilizing their grief to promote awareness about meningitis.

As Jordan talks about his son, he holds back his tears and says, ”If we can help even one family, that would mean everything.”

In the United States, bacterial meningitis affects roughly 3,000 people annually, or one in every 100,000. Bacterial meningitis can be lethal in as many as 10% of cases. Although individuals of any age can contract the virus, newborns and small children are most vulnerable.

It can be challenging to diagnose bacterial meningitis at first because its symptoms, which include fever and headache, are frequently confused with those of many other conditions.

More specific symptoms, such a great headache, stiff neck, pain while bending forward, and even light sensitivity, emerge as the infection worsens.

Seizures, lethargy, or disorientation are possible later signs. By the time they seek medical attention, some individuals may be in a coma or experiencing delirium as the disease rapidly worsens.

”He was everything to us”

A charity page has been created in Jaxon’s name, and all contributions will be donated to Meningitis Now, a group that helps families impacted by the illness.

According to the BBC, Mr. Knowles stated, ”We know there was no vaccination that Jax could take, perhaps with more funding and more research things can change in the future.”

In addition, Sheffield Wednesday, the team Jaxon was a big fan of, will honor him during their game against Sunderland by inviting supporters to join in a four-minute round of applause.

Still in shock by the death of their “miracle baby,” Jaxon’s parents are still grieving. ”He was everything to us,” Sammy says. ”Now, there’s just a void. Our house is empty. Our world is empty. We have nothing.”
