A seven-year-old boy, Chase Poust, has been hailed as a hero for his incredible act of bravery. While spending Memorial Day weekend with his family in Jacksonville, Florida, he, his father Steven, and four-year-old sister Abigail encountered a perilous situation on the St. Johns River near Mandarin Point.
Their boat was anchored, and the plan was for Steven to fish while the children swam nearby. However, a strong current unexpectedly separated Abigail from the boat. Chase, though not wearing a life jacket, let go of the boat to rescue his sister. Despite his fear, he swam against the current for an hour until he reached dry land.
Chase then ran for help, alerting rescuers. Thanks to his courage and quick thinking, all three family members were eventually rescued, having drifted a mile away from their boat. The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department expressed their relief at the positive outcome, praising the heroic actions of young Chase.
