Banksia pods are quirky, eye-catching seed cases that grow on banksia trees. While they may look unusual—even birdlike at a glance—they’re completely natural, native to southwestern Australia, though they’re also found in parts of New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. These pods often resemble pine cones and have a fascinating way of opening—usually triggered by the intense heat of forest fires—to release their seeds.
