Felix Baumgartner’s Death During Paragliding Stunt Leaves Fans Mourning A Fearless Legend
The Austrian skydiver stunned the world when he leapt from the edge of space back in 2012, jumping from a helium balloon in a record-breaking fall that defined his career.
The tragic accident that claimed his life took place in the eastern coastal town of Porto Sant’Elpidio in Italy on Thursday (July 17).
He crashed into the swimming pool area of a hotel, where a staff member also suffered minor injuries.
The staffer was taken to a hospital with a neck injury. Baumgartner, however, died instantly at the scene.

Red Bull, the energy drink giant that had backed many of Baumgartner’s daring stunts throughout his career, also confirmed that he had died.
Baumgartner gained worldwide fame in 2012 when, with Red Bull’s sponsorship, he jumped from a helium balloon at a height of 24 miles above the Earth.
During the fall, Baumgartner reached a speed of 834 mph, officially becoming the first human to break the sound barrier without any kind of vehicle.
As news of his death spread, people from all over the world began paying tribute online, remembering not just his daring feats but his passion and commitment to the world of extreme sports.
Another fan remembered him by saying: “I remember watching this on TV when I was in high school. The wild ride comes to an end eventually. RIP to a legend. If you’re gonna die young, die doing what you love.”
Someone else reflected on the irony of the accident, commenting: “He survived Stratosphere but died in paragliding. He was meant for big thing in life . paragliding was too small for his calibers.”
