This is especially true in the evolving world of sexual identity. As people search for ways to describe their experiences of attraction, new labels are emerging all the time. You may already be familiar with terms like abrosexual or graysexual, but have you heard of almondsexual?

Almondsexuality is a newer microlabel that helps people define the patterns of their attraction more precisely. According to Wikipedia, someone who identifies as almondsexual experiences primary attraction to male-aligned and androgynous-aligned genders, with only occasional or minor attraction to female-aligned genders.

This orientation sits under the multisexual umbrella—alongside more widely known identities like bisexuality and pansexuality—but it stands out because of the way attraction is structured and expressed.

As Fandom explains, almondsexual individuals often have a consistent preference: they’re mainly attracted to masculine or neutral presentations, with attraction to feminine presentations being less frequent or intense. Some may still identify as bisexual or pansexual, while others feel almondsexual fits their experience better.

The term itself is extremely recent, emerging in 2023 from a Tumblr user named genderstarbucks. Its counterpart, berrisexual, describes the inverse pattern: primary attraction to feminine and androgynous genders.

In a landscape where sexual identity continues to expand, almondsexuality shows how nuanced attraction can be—and how people are finding new ways to define it for themselves.
