Missing 2-Year-Old Boy, Dane Paulsen, Found Dead, Sheriffs Office Releases Information

A heartbreaking search that began on March 1 for missing 2-year-old Dane Paulsen has come to a tragic end. Authorities confirmed on March 11 that the toddler’s body was found in the Siletz River, roughly three miles downstream from his family’s property. The discovery followed an intense and thorough search effort, which included the dedicated work of local law enforcement, volunteers, and community members.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office announced with heavy hearts that Dane Paulsen was found deceased, and that the investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death is ongoing. The Lincoln County Medical Examiner’s Office is collaborating with the Sheriff’s Office to determine the exact cause of death.

At 11:13 a.m. on March 11, volunteer diver Juan Heredia, from the Angels Recovery Dive Team, working alongside a local river expert, located the child’s body in the water. Their tireless search efforts, combined with the expertise of those involved, ultimately led to the painful discovery.

Sheriff Adam Shanks, speaking on behalf of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, expressed his profound sorrow for the Paulsen family. He acknowledged the overwhelming pain of their loss, extending his deepest condolences during this difficult time. Shanks also thanked the many volunteers, law enforcement officers, and community members who devoted their time and energy to the search, emphasizing the collaborative efforts that made the search possible.
