Americans hold deep respect for their national anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner,” whose lyrics were inspired by the Defence of Fort M’Henry in 1814. It’s performed at significant events, including sports.

In 2018, Jackson Dean Nicholson, a senior defensive end from Arundel High School, Maryland, delivered a memorable rendition of the anthem. Instead of using loudspeakers, he grabbed his guitar, captivating the audience with his performance. It quickly went viral on the Internet, earning praise for his singing and courage.

Nicholson, who adopted the stage name Jackson Dean, explained, “I probably knew 90 percent of the people sitting in those stands, and they had no idea I was doing it ’til I brought my guitar out.”

While he pursued a football career at the time, he was also passionate about music and was working on his album. He aspired to make a mark in the music industry beyond his football days.

We wish Jackson Dean success in his music career.
