told the New York Times of his rabid popularity. \u201cBut it\u2019s difficult because you want to make everyone happy, but if you try to do that, you\u2019re setting yourself up for in the hugely successful Disney animated film\u00a0<em>The Lion King<\/em>, a film that made fans laugh, cry and sing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSimba\u2019s like me,\u201d says Thomas, who used his regular voice to play the little lion in the smash hit. \u201cI just put my natural energy into it. Real curious, fun-loving, always getting into mischief.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-1574262089\" class=\"newsner-article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"newsner-499f280628d4b99f4ad59ea08e0f3e72\" class=\"newsner-499f280628d4b99f4ad59ea08e0f3e72 newsner-amp_article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<p>Switching his time between\u00a0<em>The Lion King<\/em>\u00a0and Randy Taylor on\u00a0<em>Home Improvement<\/em>, Thomas shares that it was two years of being shuttled back on forth from one set to the next.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had to kind of go, \u2018Oops! Time to be Randy\u2019\u2026\u2019Oops! Time to be Simba,\u2019\u201d Thomas told\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/jonathan-taylor-thomas-talks-voicing-simba-in-the-lion-king-in-1994-8668406\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">People<\/a>\u00a0in 1994. \u201cYou have to prepare yourself to become this totally different person. And I\u2019m sure it was validated by my recent roles,\u201d Thomas said. \u201cWhat startled me was how willingly people accepted it.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-no-regrets\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2018No regrets\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Next, he crushed hearts when he stepped away from Hollywood to pursue his dreams of \u201cgoing to school.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After graduating New York\u2019s Chaminade College Preparatory School in 2000, he went to Harvard University, where he studied philosophy and history. He later graduated from the Columbia University School of General Studies in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo sit in a big library amongst books and students, that was pretty cool.
