In the aftermath of his death, Ana revealed that he had expressed a deep desire to become a father; something she was determined to fulfil.<\/p>\n<p>A year later, Ana welcomed a baby girl via surrogacy in the United States. She later clarified that the child, named Anita, was not her daughter, but her granddaughter; conceived with Aless\u2019 preserved sperm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis girl is not my daughter, she is my granddaughter,\u201d Ana told\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hola.com\/tags\/ana-obregon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">\u00a1Hola!<\/a><\/em> in April 2023. \u201cShe is Aless\u2019 daughter, and when she grows up I will tell her that her dad was a hero, so she knows who he is and how proud she should be of him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now 70, Ana recently spoke on Spanish television about the bittersweet joy she\u2019s found in raising Anita, all while continuing to mourn the loss of her only son.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy house is full of stuffed animals and toys,\u201d she said, smiling, per\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/showbiz\/ana-obregon-granddaughter-born-sons-sperm-spanish-actress-b1222566.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">The London Evening Standard<\/a>. \u201cI even have a little ball pool where she makes me dive in.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-168258\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-main.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/04\/16090227\/Screenshot-2025-04-16-at-10.02.18.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"568\" height=\"878\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Actress Ana Obreg\u00f3n has shared an update following the birth of her granddaughter. Credit: Europa Press \/ Europa Press \/ Getty.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>But as Anita grows, Ana admitted some of the physical challenges have become more difficult: \u201cPicking her up is getting harder on my back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reflecting on the shock of Aless\u2019 diagnosis, she spoke candidly: \u201cWe go through life thinking we\u2019re eternal, that nothing will happen to us. Then one day, at 25 years old, someone tells you that you have an aggressive cancer. That\u2019s not what you expect to hear when you\u2019re young.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-1411097716\" class=\"newsner-article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"newsner-bf112fa31984b29bc1edc8d7de0fe2fb\" class=\"newsner-bf112fa31984b29bc1edc8d7de0fe2fb newsner-amp_article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<p>Ana also confessed she now feels more fear raising Anita than she did when Aless was a child, shaped by the trauma of losing him.<\/p>\n<p>Her decision to have a child via surrogate drew considerable public attention \u2014 not only due to the unique circumstances, but also because\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/surrogacy\/\">surrogacy<\/a>\u00a0is illegal in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/spain\/\">Spain<\/a>. Anita was born in the US, and Ana later\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/adopted\/\">adopted<\/a>\u00a0her, becoming her legal guardian.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking in earlier interviews, Ana has been open about the deep grief she endured after her son\u2019s death, saying she felt \u201cdead for three years.\u201d It wasn\u2019t until Anita\u2019s birth that she began to feel alive again.<\/p>\n<p>In a recent\u00a0<em>\u00a1Hola!<\/em>\u00a0interview marking Anita\u2019s second birthday, Ana shared: \u201cI know I\u2019ll never feel the happiness I had when Aless was with me again. That pain will never go away. You don\u2019t accept or get over the death of a child.
