Although the likelihood of having twins grew 72% between 1980 and 2018, it\u2019s still quite uncommon. Twins are born about 33 times out of every 1,000 babies.<\/strong><\/p>\n

How likely are identical twins to exist? In every 1,000 births, there are about three or four sets of identical twins. Once more, relatively uncommon.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Savannah Combs, a 23-year-old woman, was overjoyed to discover that she was expecting twins. They both had Down syndrome, which was a further rarity she later discovered.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Naturally, the news was upsetting. Savannah and Justin Ackerman were aware that some people would judge them and their children due to their predicament.<\/p>\n

Nonetheless, Savannah finds great value in them because of this.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s very rare what they have, but they\u2019ve been my little gems,\u201d she told News4JAX.<\/p>\n

Savannah, a Middleburg, Florida native, posted videos of her postpartum journey on TikTok with her kids Kennadi Rue and Mckenli Ackerman, and the videos immediately acquired popularity.<\/p>\n

Savannah said in one of her videos that she was advised to abort her children because they wouldn\u2019t survive.<\/p>\n

She made the choice to keep them and give them a shot.<\/p>\n

\u201dEvery [prenatal] appointment they were alive was a blessing to me,\u201d Savannah explained.<\/p>\n

Her spouse was gone at boot camp when she found out they both had Down syndrome.<\/p>\n

When Savannah was admitted to the hospital, she was 29 weeks along with her pregnancy and gave birth to twin daughters. \u2018s so as\u2019ss\u2019s so many other things. And so on. And on. And on. And on. And on. And on. And on. And on. And on. And on. And on.<\/p>\n

The twins had to spend a few weeks in the NICU before going home because they were born two months early.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re called mono di twins, meaning that they had their own sacs, but they shared the same placenta, meaning that they were going to be identical,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cMo di twins as it is, it\u2019s like very rare. And then you throw Down syndrome on top of it, it\u2019s like one in 2 million.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite their rare condition, Savannah said they are just like any other child.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey have feelings. They have a beating heart. They know how to talk. They know how to do things you do. They will get there,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cLike I said, it may be a step behind but they\u2019re going to do it. I\u2019ve learned these kids are feisty little things and happy little things.\u201d<\/p>\n

As each child continues to meet their milestones, Savannah shares their adorable updates on TikTok.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to let them know that they\u2019re just like us and they\u2019re going to get there as long as they put their minds to it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Still, some people feel the need to criticize Savannah and her family. As a result, the young mom has had to answer some real insensitive users on social media.<\/p>\n

\u201dI wouldn\u2019t want those babies; if mine came out like that, they would be straight up for adoption,\u201d one person wrote to the mother.<\/p>\n

But Savannah had the perfect answer, which she shared on Facebook.<\/p>\n

\u201cI said, good thing they weren\u2019t born to you and were born to me. God knew what he was doing by giving these babies to the right parents who would love them regardless.\u201d<\/p>\n
