US President\u00a0Donald Trump<\/span>\u00a0has posted an\u00a0AI<\/span>\u00a0picture of himself as the Pope only a week after the funeral of\u00a0Pope Francis<\/span>.<\/p>\n

The Republican, who is not Catholic, leader took to Truth Social to post the image, which shows him wearing a white papal hat, also referred to as a miter, while a large crucifix dangles from his neck.<\/p>\n

Trump had previously joked with reporters how he wouldn\u2019t be against\u00a0succeeding the late Catholic leader<\/span>, adding: \u2018I\u2019d like to be Pope. That would be my number one choice.\u2019<\/p>\n

While chatting on the\u00a0White House<\/span>\u00a0lawn, he revealed he did not have a preference on the next Pope, but quipped there was a \u2018very good\u2019 cardinal in New York.<\/p>\n

It comes only one week after Pope Francis\u2019 funeral at St Peter\u2019s Basilica in the Vatican City as the conclave now gather to\u00a0elect a new leader for the Catholic Church<\/span>.<\/p>\n

The 88-year-old passed away on\u00a0Easter<\/span>\u00a0Monday after dedicating his \u2018entire life\u2019 to serving God and The Church. He spent his final hours with the devoted, emerging to bless thousands of people in St Peter\u2019s Square.<\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s post has been met with outrage online with many branding the move as \u2018a great disrespect\u2019, urging the US President to remove the post immediately.<\/p>\n

\u2018Trump is literally mocking the Christian world with this image he shared,\u2019 one said: \u2018And on a day when Catholics are mourning the death of their spiritual leader, Pope Francis.\u2019<\/p>\n
