that her administration is suing\u00a0Google\u00a0after they changed the Gulf of Mexico\u2019s name to the \u2018Gulf of America\u2019 on\u00a0Google Maps.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Google also allegedly ignored Mexico\u2019s \u2018repeated requests\u2019 not to rename, the BBC\u00a0reports.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Shortly into his second term of presidency, which began in January,\u00a0Trump\u00a0created an executive order for\u00a0the US Government to rename the Gulf.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">President Sheinbaum told gathered press that she would be going ahead with the court case, but didn\u2019t give away any details.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">\u201cThe lawsuit has already been filed,\u201d Sheinbaum said, but did not elaborate when or where it had been entered. \u201cAll we want is for the decree issued by the US government to be complied with.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-image_articleImage__eyzAn\">\n<div wouldn\u2019t have the authority to name the entire gulf.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">The filing comes after Mexico\u2019s foreign relations ministry issued a plea to Google not to go ahead with the rebrand.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Cris Turner, Google\u2019s VP of government affairs and public policy, had previously written to Sheinbaum.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">In the documents, shared by the Mexican president, the Google rep said Google will not be reversing the changes they have made.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">For Google Maps users in the\u00a0US, they see it marked as \u2018the Gulf of America\u2019, whereas viewers in Mexico still see it as \u2018the Gulf of Mexico\u2019. Everyone else in\u00a0the world\u00a0sees it as \u2018The Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America)\u2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">The Google VP has defended the changes, writing that by updating the description, Google is sticking to \u2018longstanding maps policies impartially and consistently across all regions\u2019.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-image_articleImage__eyzAn\">\n<div Press\u00a0had access to the White House revoked\u00a0after refusing to alter the Gulf\u2019s name in its stylebook, and Trump is ignoring federal court orders to reinstate them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Google has not responded to Sheinbaum\u2019s announcement of court action.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">UNILAD has contacted Google for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">The name change was made not long after the executive order was signed, and Trump is still continuing to refer to and back the change, despite the pushback from Mexico\u2019s ministries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">The order only has power in the US and Mexico, and other countries aren\u2019t required to accept or even acknowledge it and can continue
