the alarm about a suspected\u00a0murderer\u00a0on the loose, after the human remains or dead bodies of a dozen people have been found in Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Massachusetts \u2013 all in the space of a few months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Neighbors have grown increasingly concerned by what started as an online\u00a0conspiracy theory\u00a0about a \u2018serial killer,\u2019 which has now flared up again since the discovery of yet more suspected human remains.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">A grisly scene unfolded near celebrity superstar\u00a0Swift\u2019s\u00a0holiday home on Wednesday (May 14).<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Police\u00a0confirmed\u00a0to People that suspected human remains were found in the Watch Hill, Recording Academy)<\/cite><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Officers attended the scene on Everett Avenue at around 9:30am and found \u2018what appeared to be a human leg bone\u2019, the news outlet reports.<\/p>\n<div id=\"mantis-ui-widget-container\" class=\"mantis-recommender default\">\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">The Westerly Police Department said in a statement: \u201cInvestigators are awaiting official confirmation of the identity of the remains.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">\u201cNo foul play is suspected at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">The remains have been taken to the Rhode Island Medical Examiner\u2019s Office for further analysis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Residents near Swift\u2019s reported $17.75\u00a0million\u00a0mansion spoke of their shock to NBC10 WJAR, as Taylor Day\u00a0said it was \u2018alarming\u2019 and \u2018something very out of the ordinary for Westerly\u2019. House.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">\u201cI would never expect anything like that \u2013 especially not in Watch Hill,\u201d Day added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">The suspected human bone comes as a dozen other remains have been found across towns in New England, including Connecticut (New Haven, Norwalk, Groton, and Killingly), as well as Foster (Rhode Island), Framingham, Plymouth, and Springfield (Massachusetts).<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The 12 human remains found across New England<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">The body of a woman, identified as 35-year-old found,\u00a0officers\u00a0over in Plymouth were called out to reports of remains found by a hunter in the woods, which was later confirmed to be a human skull with its jaw and nasal area missing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Police in Groton then discovered the body of a woman, believed to be between 40 to 60 years old, inside a suitcase near a cemetery on March 19, as\u00a0per\u00a0WTNH.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">That same week, authorities in New Haven found the decomposed body of Denise Leary on March 21, who was found in a \u2018state of decay\u2019 in a wooded area behind a home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Then on March 25, the body of 56-year-old Michele Romano was found in a wooded area off Plainfield Pike in Rhode Island, unidentified remains of a man believed to be between 25 to 45 years old were found in Killingly, Connecticut, as well as further unidentified remains in Massachusetts.<\/p>\n<p Swift\u2019s mansion present the possible 13th find in recent times.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">UNILAD has contacted Swift\u2019s reps for comment.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Why do people think there is a serial killer?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Some fear the suspicious discoveries of the mostly female victims indicate a serial killer could be on the loose in the neighboring states.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">A Facebook group previously dubbed \u2018New England Serial Killer\u2019 started the speculation and had more than 65,000 members before its name had to be changed due to rules and regulations in place on the\u00a0social media\u00a0site.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Other groups have since cropped up in its wake, with one warning about \u2018sinister shadows lurking in the Southern New England tri-state area,\u2019 adding that the community is \u2018gripped by fear and uncertainty.\u2019<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What police say about the New England serial killer<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Many of the bodies and human remains found indicate they died a long time ago, meaning they did not all die around the same time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Still, it\u2019s undeniable the discoveries are eerily similar, prompting police across the states to urge the public to stay calm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Officials have ruled out foul play, claiming there is \u2018no connection\u2019 among the cases and \u2018no known threat to the public\u2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">After the latest suspected human remains were found this week, Westerly Police Chief Paul Gingerella\u00a0told\u00a0Fox News Digital: \u201cAs far as I\u2019m concerned, as killer\u2019 hurt more than help,\u00a0reports\u00a0MetroWest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">\u201cWhile online conversations around these incidents continue to grow, we urge the public to be mindful of the role that social media can play in spreading fear or misinformation,\u201d he said. \u201cUnverified claims can compromise active investigations and contribute to a sense of chaos that
