While the brand helped Elon Musk rise to the top as the richest man in the world, Tesla\u2019s fortunes have taken a dramatic downturn this year.<\/p>\n<p>Since Musk stepped into a new political position as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), he\u2019s been tied up trying to cut $2 trillion from the federal budget. That shift in focus may be costing Tesla big time.<\/p>\n<p>With the CEO distracted, Tesla\u2019s reputation and market value have started to slide. The company has become the target of protests and vandalism across the globe, and some investors are now calling for Musk to step down.<\/p>\n<p>Electric vehicle sales have taken a nosedive, dropping 20% in the last quarter alone. On top of that, many fear how tariffs under President Donald Trump\u2019s administration might further damage the brand\u2019s future.<\/p>\n<p>In a last-ditch effort to turn things around, Musk announced a company-wide fire sale last month, slashing $10,000 off the Cybertruck\u2019s already hefty price tag.
