Following a six percent reduction in 2022, that was the second-largest decline in a single year.<\/p>\n<p>A 64-year-old man has been reported missing, although no one is believed to have killed in the event.<\/p>\n<div class=\"gyayb683a558fead86\">\n<div data-type=\"_mgwidget\" data-widget-id=\"1712269\" data-uid=\"0d04e\">\n<div id=\"mgw1712269_0d04e\">\n<div>\n<div class=\"mgbox\">\n<div class=\"mgheader\">\n<p>According to the Valais Cantonal Police, a search and rescue effort with a drone equipped with a thermal camera was underway for the guy, whose identity has not been disclosed.<\/p>\n<p>Pictures of the glacier\u2019s aftermath are heartbreaking. In earlier pictures, you can see lush grass, clear skies, and lovely lodges tucked away in the L\u00f6tschental valley. However, due to the glacier-caused landslip, which only a few houses survived, Blatten is now a sea of brown.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-13\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>\u201cThe unimaginable has happened,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0stated Matthias Bellwald, the mayor of Blatten, in a tearful speech.<\/p>\n<p>He continued, as per\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/cnv1evn2p2vo\">BBC News<\/a>:\u00a0<strong>\u201cWe have lost our village, but not our heart. We will support each other and console each other.
