Authorities quickly realized the situation was serious. \u201cThis disappearance poses a credible threat to their health and safety as determined by the investigating agency,\u201d police warned.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-chilling-new-development\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Chilling new development<\/h2>\n<p>Then, on Monday, June 9, the search came to a heartbreaking end when a body was discovered in a wooded area in Norfolk. Just one day later, authorities confirmed what Angie\u2019s mother, Esmeralda, had feared most \u2014 the remains belonged to her daughter, according to the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.<\/p>\n<p>And now, there\u2019s been a chilling new development in this heartbreaking case.<\/p>\n<p>Another Navy sailor \u201chas been placed in pretrial confinement\u201d in connection with the death of Angie Resendiz, NCIS confirmed. Williams, according to the Navy.<\/p>\n<p>Angelia \u201cAngie\u201d Resendiz had big dreams when she joined the Navy in 2023, right after graduating high school. The 21-year-old Navy sailor\u2019s disappearance shocked the nation \u2014 and now, her family is pushing for major changes in how the U.S. military handles cases like hers.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-concerns-about-transparency-and-urgency\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Concerns about transparency and urgency<\/h2>\n<p>The fundraiser describes Angie\u2019s mother as a woman on a mission, determined to \u201cprotest for the reform\u201d of how the military responds when women in uniform go missing.<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-412901815\" class=\"newsner-article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"newsner-5ef714bb994928bc5895bef4577ff5dc\" class=\"newsner-5ef714bb994928bc5895bef4577ff5dc newsner-amp_article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cSince her disappearance, the United States Navy has been quiet and ambiguous about searching for Angie,\u201d the page reads.<\/p>\n<p>The post also raised serious concerns about transparency and urgency: \u201cWith all of the technology at the Navy\u2019s disposal, there is no reason for a sailor to go missing or stay missing.
