But for Jenny Marr and her partner Chris, it was those things and much more.<\/p>\n<p>The couple, from Grapevine, Texas, met in a local pub and had tried to have a baby for several months. But when Jenny finally got pregnant, she and Chris got the shock of their lives when they went in for a routine ultrasound.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"><iframe id=\"instagram-embed-1\" class=\"instagram-media instagram-media-rendered\" src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/B-sUfsGniSI\/embed\/captioned\/?cr=1&amp;v=14&amp;wp=640&amp;rd=https%3A%2F%2Fen.newsner.com&amp;rp=%2Ffamily%2Fmom-delivers-identical-quadruplets-during-covid-19-pandemic-and-theyre-beautiful%2F%3Ffbclid%3DIwY2xjawLC41BleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETBTTWJKQU9ob3d2WUd4QkwzAR7MjCyKqubIPGcXc2_Qxx_rFtRXVeR3_48YYjG-fT9Lb#%7B%22ci%22%3A1%2C%22os%22%3A561%7D\" height=\"1042\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-instgrm-payload-id=\"instagram-media-payload-1\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>That\u2019s when Jenny realized she wasn\u2019t carrying one baby.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/health\/identical-quadruplets-mom-delivers-four-babies-during-coronavirus-crisis-t181887?cid=sm_npd_td_fb_kh&amp;fbclid=IwAR0lwyuRR_BrVmqBiVSQpeWZKIQ2pKDPkKaZbC71yp5M2-07DwIylKi7LiA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jenny explained to TODAY<\/a>: \u201cI was like, \u2018Oh no, there\u2019s no heartbeat.\u2019 And, she\u2019s like, \u2018No, there is a heartbeat.\u2019 She goes, \u2018Y\u2019all, there\u2019s three babies in there.\u2019 And we were just absolutely floored.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jenny and her partner Chris were naturally shocked, but the surprises didn\u2019t end there.<\/p>\n<p>Just a week later, on November 19, 2019, they visited a maternal-fetal medicine specialist for a follow-up appointment and got the same odd glance from the technician performing the ultrasound.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe tech \u2014 who was doing the initial (scan) \u2014 she gave me a funny look. We were like, \u2018Oh what\u2019s going on now?\u2019 We got worried again,\u2019\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/health\/identical-quadruplets-mom-delivers-four-babies-during-coronavirus-crisis-t181887?cid=sm_npd_td_fb_kh&amp;fbclid=IwAR0lwyuRR_BrVmqBiVSQpeWZKIQ2pKDPkKaZbC71yp5M2-07DwIylKi7LiA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Chris told TODAY.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe was really cute. She said, \u2018I\u2019m not supposed to say this, but y\u2019all got four babies.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"><iframe id=\"instagram-embed-2\" class=\"instagram-media instagram-media-rendered\" src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/B_Ge79anOj_\/embed\/captioned\/?cr=1&amp;v=14&amp;wp=640&amp;rd=https%3A%2F%2Fen.newsner.com&amp;rp=%2Ffamily%2Fmom-delivers-identical-quadruplets-during-covid-19-pandemic-and-theyre-beautiful%2F%3Ffbclid%3DIwY2xjawLC41BleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETBTTWJKQU9ob3d2WUd4QkwzAR7MjCyKqubIPGcXc2_Qxx_rFtRXVeR3_48YYjG-fT9Lb#%7B%22ci%22%3A2%2C%22os%22%3A562.1999999992549%7D\" height=\"1096\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-instgrm-payload-id=\"instagram-media-payload-2\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>In just seven days, they\u2019d gone from expecting one baby to being told they were having FOUR.<\/p>\n<p>Chris said: \u201cI made the joke that I am not coming back because there are going to be five babies next time. We were just shocked. Jumping from three to four was easier to swallow. Just after that we heard they were healthy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Lauren Murray and her colleagues estimated that identical, spontaneous quadruplet births occur in 1 in 11 million or 1 in 15 million births \u2026 extremely rare to put it mildly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s unbelievable. It\u2019ll never happen again in my career. I said, \u2018Girl, go buy a few lottery tickets because those are the kind of odds we\u2019re dealing with,\u2019\u201d Murray said. \u201cWhat a miracle it was.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite risks that one of the babies could pull nutrients away from the others, thus requiring surgery and causing problems, it turned out that this quartet were perfectly ready to share.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"><iframe id=\"instagram-embed-3\" class=\"instagram-media instagram-media-rendered\" src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/B-5mu4InLbH\/embed\/captioned\/?cr=1&amp;v=14&amp;wp=640&amp;rd=https%3A%2F%2Fen.newsner.com&amp;rp=%2Ffamily%2Fmom-delivers-identical-quadruplets-during-covid-19-pandemic-and-theyre-beautiful%2F%3Ffbclid%3DIwY2xjawLC41BleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETBTTWJKQU9ob3d2WUd4QkwzAR7MjCyKqubIPGcXc2_Qxx_rFtRXVeR3_48YYjG-fT9Lb#%7B%22ci%22%3A3%2C%22os%22%3A1256.699999999255%7D\" height=\"1060\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-instgrm-payload-id=\"instagram-media-payload-3\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe babies shared incredibly well. There were no incidents on the sonogram even leading up to that where we were worried that one of them, or two or three of them, would be significantly smaller,\u201d Murray said.<\/p>\n<p>So it was that at 28.5 weeks, on March 15, Jenny went into labor.<\/p>\n<p>She was trying to get to 33 weeks but had to deliver early. The babies arrived during the beginning of the coronavirus chaos, but her C-section went well.<\/p>\n<p>Baby Harrison came first, weighing 2 pounds 6 ounces. Hardy came after at 2 pounds 10 ounces, then Henry at 2 pounds 6.7 ounces and finally Hudson, who was 1 pound 15 ounces.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"><iframe id=\"instagram-embed-4\" class=\"instagram-media instagram-media-rendered\" src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CA-8o-7n7LI\/embed\/captioned\/?cr=1&amp;v=14&amp;wp=640&amp;rd=https%3A%2F%2Fen.newsner.com&amp;rp=%2Ffamily%2Fmom-delivers-identical-quadruplets-during-covid-19-pandemic-and-theyre-beautiful%2F%3Ffbclid%3DIwY2xjawLC41BleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETBTTWJKQU9ob3d2WUd4QkwzAR7MjCyKqubIPGcXc2_Qxx_rFtRXVeR3_48YYjG-fT9Lb#%7B%22ci%22%3A4%2C%22os%22%3A1259.699999999255%7D\" height=\"883\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-instgrm-payload-id=\"instagram-media-payload-4\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThey were all born in three minutes. It\u2019s incredible,\u201d Jenny said. \u201cWe called them our baby birds because they really looked like baby birds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Three of the four stayed in the neonatal intensive care unit for 10 weeks to receive oxygen, amongst other things. In early May, though, they came home \u2026 and Jenny and Chris couldn\u2019t be happier.<\/p>\n<p>When a year had passed, Jenny talked to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dfwchild.com\/meet-mom-of-identical-quads-jenny-marr\/?fbclid=IwAR0Pto28ATEcbgRf5-VwfrHEdQ9liOaFY1VPerCA7z3HxjmcnDEsspaRE0M\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">DFW Child<\/a>\u00a0and gave an update on how her quadruplets were doing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dThey\u2019re all crawling. I have two who will be walking in the next month probably, which means the other two aren\u2019t far behind. They\u2019re into everything. They\u2019re dirty and messy. They\u2019re already such little boys! Eating is just shoveling food into their face as fast as they possibly can. Jenny says she conceived these boys without any medical or medication assistance.<\/p>\n<p>Many people also ask Jenny how she\u2019s coping with four lively boys.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dI don\u2019t know anything different, and I don\u2019t really have another option!\u00a0My family had preschools when I was growing up, and 8 weeks was the starting age. I used to sit in with the preschool babies. I was around kids so much that it is like second nature to take care of children,\u201d Jenny\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dfwchild.com\/meet-mom-of-identical-quads-jenny-marr\/?fbclid=IwAR0Pto28ATEcbgRf5-VwfrHEdQ9liOaFY1VPerCA7z3HxjmcnDEsspaRE0M\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">says<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dIt is what it is. You\u2019ve got to roll with the punches. I remember asking my doctor, \u201cDo I need to go to parenting classes?\u201d She said, \u201cNo, you\u2019re going to learn things in the NICU. And there are four of them. We typically see 4 different faces, but their personalities and voices are so different. For someone who\u2019s just met them though: (in birth order) Harrison is the biggest and has the best hair. Hardy has a chipped front tooth and is super slender. Henry has a chubby face and his hair bounces when he runs. Hudson has the smallest head and a freckle on his forehead.
