Her child\u2019s safety comes first \u2014 no matter what happens.<\/p>\n<p>This story is a perfect example of a mother\u2019s love \u2014 \u00a0it is both incredibly sad and very heartwarming.<\/p>\n<p>21-year-old Shelby Ann Carter was building an idyllic family life. She and her\u00a0boyfriend lived with her mother in Wyoming, Ill. At the beginning of January 2017, the couple welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world. Shelby was absolutely\u00a0delighted to be a mother.<\/p>\n<p>However, her plans for the future would end sadly. On January 30, 2017, the worst thing possible happened \u2014 and it was a terrible tragedy.<\/p>\n<p>Shelby Carter was home alone with her newborn daughter when their home suddenly caught fire.<\/p>\n<p>It spread quickly and in just a few seconds the house was filled with dangerous smoke \u2014 and there was no way to escape. Firefighters rushed to the fire-filled house, but when the flames were finally under control they made a horrendous discovery on the second floor.<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-e0a57bd330e0d67b6961f38fe549bec9\" class=\"newsner-e0a57bd330e0d67b6961f38fe549bec9 newsner-amp_article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"newsner-878031036\" class=\"newsner-article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignnone size-full wp-image-26527\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-26527\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-stories.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/11\/04133258\/daugher.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn-stories.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/11\/04133258\/daugher.jpg 1080w, https:\/\/cdn-stories.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/11\/04133258\/daugher-768x768.jpg 768w\" alt=\"\" width=\"1080\" height=\"1080\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo.php?fbid=10208304766000089&amp;set=a.1393785487968&amp;type=3&amp;theater\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Facebook \/ Shelby Ann<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Shelby Carter had succumbed the smoke and died.\u00a0She died from carbon\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/diseases-conditions\/carbon-monoxide\/symptoms-causes\/syc-20370642\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">monoxide poisoning<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But in the middle of this tragedy, the firefighters found something amazing \u2014 and it showed them that a parent will do anything for her baby.<\/p>\n<p>Even in the most life-threatening circumstances, and with an incredibly limited amount of time, Shelby had the presence of mind to quickly strap her into the carseat.<\/p>\n<p>This hero mom had secured her newborn daughter in a car seat and then dropped her from the second-floor window.
