On\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/reddit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Reddit<\/a>, one user told the story of how a parent at the same table took her glass of wine away because they didn\u2019t want to expose their children to \u2018women drinking alcohol.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>In mid-June, Reddit user nurseB89 made a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/AmItheAsshole\/comments\/1l9mrzk\/aita_for_ordering_alcohol\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">post<\/a>\u00a0in the subreddit, \u201cAm I the asshole?\u201d (AITA). The forum\u2019s description reads, \u201ca place to finally find out if you were wrong in an argument that\u2019s been bothering you. Tell us about any non-violent conflict you have experienced; give us both sides of the story, and find out if you\u2019re right or you\u2019re the asshole.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since AITA was created, it has garnered more than 24 million posts, with people sharing their stories, both large and small, serious and humorous. And just about a week ago, user nurseB89 shared her story, which got a lot of attention.<\/p>\n<p>The user wrote that she was currently on a \u201csolo trip in Tenerife,\u201d Spain, and had opted for an \u201call-inclusive to save having to look for places to eat by myself.\u201d Now, traveling by yourself is an excellent way of meeting new people, but sometimes, that can also mean that you get that quality time to be with only yourself.<\/p>\n<p>As many do for dinner, perhaps especially when on vacation in a warmer climate, one orders a glass of wine, a pint of beer, or some other kind of drink to enjoy. But for this Reddit user, the dinner became somewhat strange as a family entered the restaurant.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Parents tell traveler to remove wine glass<\/h2>\n<p>NurseB89 explained that the restaurant was quite special as everyone sat together at larger tables, writing, \u201cthe hotel has club style seating, meaning that all tables are tables of 8 and people get sat together, apparently it\u2019s to encourage a sense of community and conversation\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She continued, \u201cLast night, I was seated first and had a glass of wine. A family of 5 got seated at my table. 2 adults and 3 Children. The mother turned to me and said \u2018we do not wish to expose our children to women drinking alcohol\u2019 I smiled and said perhaps they should ask to move tables if it was an issue but I would be drinking the wine. They noticed I was on my own and made passive aggressive comments about this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Reddit user continued her story, explaining how she went up to get food and then returned to her table. However, upon arriving at her table, she noticed something was missing. The wine had \u201cdisappeared.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA waiter came over and asked to see my wrist band (for the all inclusive) and said the family had told them I was underage and must have sneaked away from my parents , he was very apologetic and returned with a fresh glass of wine just as the family came back with their food,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ordered shots of vodka<\/h2>\n<p>User nurseb89 ended her post, asking, \u201c[am I the asshole] for then requesting the waiter brought me the full bottle along with a couple of shots of vodka? \u2013 The family stormed out of the restaurant when I drank the shots as they arrived at the table!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It didn\u2019t take long before several other users pitched in with their comments on whether she did right or wrong by ordering shots of vodka and a whole bottle. One user simply stated, towards the family, \u201cThen don\u2019t take your kids to places where alcohol is served,\u201d while another pitched in, \u201cSo a woman drinking in front of their kids is bad. Lying to a waiter, making unfounded accusations about you to staff, and being rude to a stranger is okay? Interesting sliding scale on that moral code of theirs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The issue of the parents doing this in a public space was a problem for many Reddit users as the comment section grew larger. A third user stated, Expecting people to cater to your preferences in a public space is actual insanity,\u201d while a fourth said, \u201cYou were sitting there first, THEN they were seated at your table? If they don\u2019t want the kids around alcohol, they can get up and sit somewhere else.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Did she do the right thing?<\/h2>\n<p>A fifth person, also a solo traveler, sent nurseb89 a happy message, stating, \u201cI write this as a woman currently on a solo trip in Egypt at an all inclusive with a glass of wine in hand, I\u2019m applauding your pettiness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Do you think the parents\u2019 question asking the woman about not drinking alcohol was OK or not?
