But in September, they received the heartbreaking news: the cancer had returned and spread. Laura chose to stop treatment two months before her passing, wanting to spend quality time with her loved ones instead of enduring further suffering.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-2\">\n<div data-type=\"_mgwidget\" data-widget-id=\"1761866\" data-uid=\"1150e\">\n<div id=\"mgw1761866_1150e\">\n<div>\n<div class=\"mgbox card-media\" data-template-type=\"container\">\n<div class=\"mgheader\">\n<p>Thanks to support from St. Christopher\u2019s Hospice in south-east London, Laura was able to remain at home with her family in comfort and dignity. That has been a gift.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-2\">\n<div data-type=\"_mgwidget\" data-widget-id=\"1761866\" data-uid=\"0d139\">\n<div id=\"mgw1761866_0d139\">\n<div>\n<div class=\"mgbox card-media\" data-template-type=\"container\">\n<div class=\"mgheader\">\n<p>Ben praised the honesty they maintained with their sons, Jacob, 17, and Theo, 15. The family openly discussed the prognosis to help them emotionally prepare and build trust.<\/p>\n<p>Laura left behind lasting memories\u2014letters, mementos, and symbolic gifts like watches for her sons to wear on special days.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe was generous, kind, and joyful,\u201d Ben said. \u201cShe lived with grace, and even in dying, she gave us the gift of presence and love.
