advertisement for the supposed rejuvenating \u2018magic\u2019 behind colloidal silver.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Dealing with a bad case of dermatitis on his face, he produced the mixture himself via electrolysis, which dissolved in water.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">It\u2019s believed that he ended up drinking around 10 ounces every single day for at least a decade.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Interviewed by ABC News back in 2008, Paul\u00a0claimed\u00a0he hadn\u2019t even noticed his skin\u2019s transformation until an old friend stopped by his Oregon home for a visit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">He recalled: \u201cHe looks at me and he says, \u2018What have you got on your face?\u2019 \u2018I don\u2019t have anything on my face!\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">\u201cHe says, \u2018Well, it looks like you\u2019ve got camouflage makeup on or something.\u2019 And by golly, he came in and he was very fair-skinned, as I used to be. And that\u2019s when it hit me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">What he had felt, though, were positive changes in his health.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">\u201cThe acid reflux problem I\u2019d been having just went away completely,\u201d said Paul. \u201cI had arthritis in my shoulders so bad I couldn\u2019t pull a T-shirt off. His wife, Jo Anna Karason, revealed he also had pneumonia and fell foul of a severe stroke.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Speaking\u00a0to\u00a0TODAY, the widow suggested her husband was never quite sold on his \u2018Papa Smurf\u2019 nickname.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">\u201cThat was a nickname he didn\u2019t appreciate, depending on who said it,\u201d Jo Anna said. \u201cIf it was a kid who ran up to him saying \u2018Papa Smurf,\u2019 it would put a smile on his face.
