height:auto; display:block; border-radius:8px; cursor:pointer;\"\n    \/>\n  <\/a>\n<\/div><\/div><style type=\"text\/css\">\r\n@media screen and (min-width: 1201px) {\r\n.oasnj6a0138d1b9938 {\r\ndisplay: block;\r\n}\r\n}\r\n@media screen and (min-width: 993px) and (max-width: 1200px) {\r\n.oasnj6a0138d1b9938 {\r\ndisplay: block;\r\n}\r\n}\r\n@media screen and (min-width: 769px) and (max-width: 992px) {\r\n.oasnj6a0138d1b9938 {\r\ndisplay: block;\r\n}\r\n}\r\n@media screen and (min-width: 768px) and (max-width: 768px) {\r\n.oasnj6a0138d1b9938 {\r\ndisplay: block;\r\n}\r\n}\r\n@media screen and (max-width: 767px) {\r\n.oasnj6a0138d1b9938 {\r\ndisplay: block;\r\n}\r\n}\r\n<\/style>\r\n\n<p>After a particularly moving encounter with a patient, Julie McFadden, who is more often known online as Hospice Nurse Julie, revealed that she is no longer scared of what may happen next.<\/p>\n<p>Since she started posting information about death on social media, the 42-year-old has amassed hundreds of thousands of followers.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to sharing the most typical deathbed admissions, she has openly talked about some of the startling things she has witnessed while helping individuals who are nearing the end of their life.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-41701\" src=\"https:\/\/dailypositiveinfo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/image-234-1024x683.png\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dailypositiveinfo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/image-234-1024x683.png 1024w, https:\/\/dailypositiveinfo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/image-234-300x200.png 300w, https:\/\/dailypositiveinfo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/image-234-768x512.png 768w, https:\/\/dailypositiveinfo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/image-234-1536x1024.png 1536w, https:\/\/dailypositiveinfo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/image-234.png 1770w\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Source:\u00a0Unsplash<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Julie described how she had a significant experience with a patient, whom she called Randy, soon after she started working in hospice care.<\/p>\n<p>In a June interview with the Mighty Pursuit podcast, she talked about how she felt he\u2019showed her what death genuinely feels like\u2019 on the day he died.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWhat I experienced on the day he died is something I\u2019ll never forget,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0she continued.\u00a0<strong>\u201cThis is the moment I stopped fearing death.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In addition to his mental health problems and his failing physical condition, Julie claimed that Randy, a guy in his 50s, had no friends or family, hoarded, and had\u00a0<strong>\u201cmany outside issues\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0going on.<\/p>\n<p>She stated,\u00a0<strong>\u201cHe needed a lot of help,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0adding that her team had to remove his entire house since it\u00a0<strong>\u201cwasn\u2019t safe\u201d<\/strong> for him to live in.<\/p>\n<p>The hospice nurse remarked,\u00a0<strong>\u201cHe was like a different man the next time I saw him.\u201d \u201cHe was happy, he was more free, more open and he ended up living [another] nine months \u2013 which doesn\u2019t sound like a lot, but from what he was dying from and for what he was like when we first saw him, that\u2019s like crazy.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Julie in particular \u2018became really close\u2019 to Randy during this period, but he ultimately developed a tight relationship with the entire hospice team.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cHe wasn\u2019t afraid to talk about his own death, so he would talk to me about how he was afraid to die, and what did that mean and how he didn\u2019t live this free life \u2013 he had a lot of regrets,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0she recalled, recalling how she would frequently visit his house to\u00a0<strong>\u201chang out\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>\u201cjust talk about his life.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cI don\u2019t have favourite patients, but if I did, he probably would be my favourite. I still think of him all the time.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Randy needed \u2018constant care\u2019 as his condition deteriorated, and a nurse was there around-the-clock to help him manage his symptoms, with Julie coming to see him occasionally.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cOn the last day when I visited him, I could tell he\u2019d probably die that day,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0she stated.\u00a0<strong>\u201cI could tell by how he was breathing, by how he looked.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Before leaving his house to see her next patient, she\u2019said her farewell to him in her brain\u2019 and asked the nurse who was care for him to notify her when he passed away.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cI was walking out of his flat and I didn\u2019t feel really sad,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0she recalled.\u00a0<strong>\u201cI felt so grateful that I had met him, and I\u2019m like, \u2018Oh my gosh, I just wish him the best whatever happens, I wish him the best journey\u2019.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the end, Julie stayed in her car outside Randy\u2019s house for a while and claimed to have kept\u00a0<strong>\u201ctalking to him in her head.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cAnd all of a sudden, I heard Randy\u2019s voice in my head and he was saying my name,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0the end-of-life expert told the podcast.\u00a0<strong>\u201cNot only did I hear his voice, but I felt like he gave me all of the senses.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cIt was like I could hear him in my head, I could feel how he was feeling and I could almost see him \u2013 like he was soaring, he was happy.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cHe was going \u2018Oh my gosh Julie, if I only would have known how good this was, I would never have been afraid\u2019. I knew that all his life all he wanted was to be free, he always talked about that.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cAnd in death, I could tell he finally felt that and I just felt like an overwhelming feeling of peace and joy and happiness, that I could not help but cry in my car.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>She clarified that the anecdote still makes her\u00a0<strong>\u201cwant to cry\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0whenever she recounts it,\u00a0<strong>\u201cbecause it was so beautiful.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"fluid-width-video-wrapper\"><iframe title=\"The Moment That Changed How I See Death Forever | Mighty Pursuit Podcast\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/U6AxkpHB-Kk?feature=oembed\" name=\"fitvid0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Julie went on:\u00a0<strong>\u201cIt made me feel not scared of death.
