They couldn\u2019t figure out why her lungs were shutting down so rapidly. What they did know was that she had a severe fungal infection, which was aggressively attacking the protective linings of her respiratory system. Despite the best efforts of medical teams, answers were still few and far between. She was eventually diagnosed with respiratory failure, a dangerous condition where the lungs can\u2019t provide the body with enough oxygen or remove carbon dioxide efficiently.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;I basically had mould everywhere.&#8221;<\/em>\u00a0she remembered.\u00a0<em>&#8220;It was in my lungs, ears and sinuses.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"article_image_wrapper\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.tbdcdn.com\/uploads\/2025\/07\/18\/108470-thatviralfeed.com-large-606042.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"atd_pages\">\n<article class=\"atd\"><em>&#8220;The doctors had to keep going into them to clean off the mould, and I had to walk around with my oxygen tank or my levels would drop really low.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>May went on to describe how the mould kept coming back. Things got so bad that for six straight months she coughed up thick, black phlegm.
