undergo such a harsh treatment that could even kill me when there is a possibility this is not cancer,\u201d she said, voicing concerns that chemotherapy may impact fertility.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Instead, the inquest heard how Paloma raved about her alternative treatment \u2013 which included a strict plant-based diet, juices, supplements, and coffee enemas \u2013 and believed she would \u2018make a full recovery\u2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Gabriel and Sebastian Shemirani, Paloma\u2019s siblings, previously spoke to the press ahead of the inquest \u2013 but have blamed their mother\u2019s conspiracy theories for their sister\u2019s death.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Their mom Kate was struck off as a nurse in 2021 for promoting misinformation about Covid-19, and has become a prominent figure among conspiracy theorists online.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Speaking\u00a0to\u00a0the BBC\u2019s Panorama programme, Sebastian said: \u201cMy sister has passed away as a direct consequence of my mum\u2019s actions and beliefs and I don\u2019t want anyone else to go through the same pain or loss that I have.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Meanwhile, Gabriel added: \u201cI wasn\u2019t able to stop my sister from dying. But it would mean the world to me if I could make it that she wasn\u2019t just another in a long line of people that die in this way.\u201d<\/p>\n<div and Gabriel have gone public with their accusations in the hope of preventing more deaths as a result of medical misinformation being spread on social media.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Kate\u2019s sons claim their mother\u2019s conspiracy theories began in 2012 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">She had her tumor removed through surgery, but Kate credits alternative therapies for her recovery.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Evidence shown to the BBC revealed that Paloma\u2019s decision to turn down treatment could have been influenced by her mother\u2019s beliefs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Claims made by Paloma\u2019s then-boyfriend Ander Harris say Kate urged her daughter not to \u2018sign or verbally consent to chemo or any treatment\u2019 in an alleged text message sent to him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">According to the BBC, staff at the hospital raised safeguarding concerns among themselves, expressing \u2018a concern regarding parental influence\u2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">But it was also deemed that given Paloma was an adult, she had the capacity to make her own decisions on treatment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">When contacted by the BBC about the allegations surrounding her daughter\u2019s death, Kate did not respond directly to the claims, but instead accused the NHS of being responsible for Paloma\u2019s passing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">\u201cPaloma died as a result of medical interventions given without confirmed diagnosis or lawful consent,\u201d she claimed.
