At first, he thought little of it until he quickly realized it was not a ram but a bear cub.<\/p>\n<p>In a later interview, Jeremy recalled how he immediately reached for his bear spray tucked inside his backpack. Before he could get it out, however, the cub\u2019s mother emerged, ready to protect her young.<\/p>\n<p>Panicked and desperate, Jeremy hurled his bicycle at the bear in an attempt to scare her off. Jeremy bolted and scrambled up a nearby tree in a desperate attempt to escape.<\/p>\n<p>But before he could climb to safety, the mother bear latched onto his right leg, dragging him down. He recalled the horrific moment to the Daily Mail,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-14907637\/My-face-shredded-grizzly-bear-pick-pieces-flesh-beast-attacked-came-devastating-choice.html\">saying<\/a>:\u00a0<em>&#8220;My left eye was hanging out of the socket. It was facing down. I am very tired and I feel like I am going to pass out.
