According to surveillance footage and witness accounts cited by Entertainment Now and E! News, Burrell appeared intoxicated but in good spirits. She was a true force of nature,\u201d a friend told\u00a0<em>The Post<\/em>. \u201cHer personality was so big.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 55-year-old\u00a0Food Network\u00a0star, best known for hosting\u00a0<em>Worst Cooks in America<\/em>\u00a0for 15 years, was found unresponsive at her Brooklyn home on the morning of June 17, 2025. She reportedly suffered cardiac arrest, and sources said pills were found near her body.<\/p>\n<p>Friends remember the beloved chef as the \u201clife of every party\u201d and someone who brought energy and joy wherever she went.<\/p>\n<p>At the height of her Food Network fame \u2014 rising alongside stars like Giada De Laurentiis, Alton Brown, and Ina Garten \u2014 one longtime friend recalled that, for Burrell, the spotlight also brought its share of struggles.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-46659\" src=\"https:\/\/todaydailytimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/image-27.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI know she kind of struggled \u2014 once she was on TV and was on her way to be a TV celebrity chef,\u201d the friend told\u00a0<em>Page Six<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe was famous, she was doing the food and wine circuit stuff. She was busy \u2014 I kind of felt like she wasn\u2019t totally happy,\u201d the friend continued. \u201cPeople with big personalities sometimes mask things.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Burrell grew up near Syracuse and had a deep admiration for Julia Child. At 23, she enrolled at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. She made her TV debut in 2008 with the Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Two years later, she teamed up with chef Beau MacMillan to launch Worst Cooks in America, a competition that quickly became a hit with home cooks across the country.<\/p>\n<p>According to a friend, Anne\u2019s on-screen charm was a true reflection of who she was in real life.<\/p>\n<p>Burrell became a regular face on Food Network and, in 2017, opened a Mediterranean restaurant called Phil &amp; Anne\u2019s Good Time Lounge in Brooklyn with her friend Phil Casaceli. However, their friendship quickly fell apart, and they stopped speaking except through lawyers. The restaurant closed less than a year later, in April 2018.
