She was found to be pregnant and had been subjected to exploitation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe just found one two days ago,\u201d Homan said. \u201cA 14-year-old little girl. Living with two adult males. She\u2019s pregnant. We are taking care of her\u2014both physically and mentally.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The teenager has since been placed in medical care and is also receiving counseling, according to ICE officials. Homan stressed that her case is part of a much larger problem at the border.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-6\">\n<div id=\"usaunfiltered24.com_responsive_2\" data-google-query-id=\"CKKOvdbj_I8DFciggwcdklYM4Q\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/23293390090\/usaunfiltered24.com\/usaunfiltered24.com_responsive_2_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe Are Not Heartless\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-10\">\n<div id=\"usaunfiltered24.com_responsive_2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>In his remarks, Homan rejected claims that ICE operates without compassion. He said agents often face heartbreaking situations that critics rarely see.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespite what the media says, we are not heartless,\u201d he said. \u201cWe care about these kids. I am a father, and that\u2019s why this fight matters so much. Cases like this are why we do the work we do.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-11\">\n<div id=\"usaunfiltered24.com_responsive_3\" data-google-query-id=\"CL6tvdbj_I8DFd6CgwcdZ14OLQ\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/23293390090\/usaunfiltered24.com\/usaunfiltered24.com_responsive_3_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Homan added that agents regularly encounter children in dangerous or abusive situations, often abandoned or forced into situations no child should endure.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-12\">\n<div id=\"usaunfiltered24.com_responsive_3\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>A Daily Reality<\/p>\n<p>The ICE chief stressed that the young girl\u2019s case was not an isolated incident. According to him, officers uncover similar situations frequently.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is happening every day,\u201d Homan warned. \u201cWe will do everything we can to put an end to it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Advocates have long warned that minors who cross into the U.S., especially those traveling alone, face high risks of being taken advantage of by criminal networks. Once inside the country, many become trapped in abusive living arrangements or forced labor.<\/p>\n<p>Border Security and Trafficking<\/p>\n<p>Since President Donald Trump returned to office in January, the administration has highlighted new policies aimed at securing the border and disrupting criminal networks.<\/p>\n<p>A recent report from the Department of Homeland Security showed dramatic decreases in illegal entries: a 93 percent drop in daily encounters, a 95 percent reduction in \u201cgotaways\u201d, and nearly a 100 percent decrease in illegal crossings. Officials credit these changes with making it harder for cartels and smugglers to operate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHuman smugglers and criminal gangs thrive when the border is open,\u201d Homan said. \u201cWhen we shut down illegal crossings, we shut down their ability to exploit vulnerable people\u2014especially children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A Veteran\u2019s Perspective<\/p>\n<p>Homan, who began his career in border enforcement in 1984, has worked under six presidents.
