His family had little to console them following his vanishing. Indeed, it simply seemed as though he had disappeared into thin air one day.<\/p>\n<p>According to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/world-us-canada-49078557\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">BBC<\/a>, relatives of Larry had revealed that he was suffering from hallucinations at the time of his disappearance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was hearing voices that said \u2018eat sugar\u2019,\u201d his mother said, via a translator.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-177507\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-main.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/10\/06134649\/Screenshot-2025-10-06-at-15.46.36.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"496\" height=\"594\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">KETV NewsWatch 7 via YouTube<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cHe felt his heart was beating too hard and thought if he ate sugar, his heart would not beat so hard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Council Bluffs Police Captain Todd Weddum, Larry\u2019s parents believed he was possibly acting strangely due to the medication he was taking.<\/p>\n<p>Then, a decade later, in 2019, a tragic discovery changed everything.<\/p>\n<p>The store worker\u2019s remains were found at the local supermarket in Council Bluffs where he had worked. His body was discovered wedged in an 18-inch gap between the cooler and a wall.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-177511\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-main.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/10\/06134735\/Screenshot-2025-10-06-at-15.47.25.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"592\" height=\"598\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Credit: Council Bluffs Police Department<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>As per reports, Larry\u2019s corpse was found by a group of workers who had been ordered to remove shelves and coolers. The store had been shut for three years at this point and the premises were being cleared.<\/p>\n<p>Using DNA collected from his parents, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation were able to identify Larry. The clothing on his body also matched what he was said to have been wearing at the time of his disappearance.<\/p>\n<p>According to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/eu.desmoinesregister.com\/story\/news\/2019\/07\/22\/body-found-behind-cooler-former-council-bluffs-supermarket-identified-man-who-went-missing-10-years\/1794893001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Des Moines Register<\/a>, Larry\u2019s death was ruled accidental.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators looking into the accident concluded that Larry had gone into the supermarket after leaving his family home, thereafter climbing atop the store\u2019s coolers. There, he must have fallen into the gap between the units and the wall, tragically becoming trapped in the process.<\/p>\n<p>Sergeant Brandon Danielson said it would have been a 12-foot fall, while the noise of the freezer units would have been \u2018so loud\u2019 there was \u2018probably no way anyone heard him.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur heads are spinning, finding this out after so many years, and it is distressing, it makes us feel a lot of pain,\u201d said Larry\u2019s father, Victor Murillo, after the discovery of his son in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey closed the building. The freezers weren\u2019t working anymore.
