However, fans were quick to notice that one person was glaringly missing from the nuptials: a special long-time friend.<\/p>\n<p>Invited to the big event were celebrities such as singer\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/taylor-swift\/\">Taylor Swift<\/a>, her co-stars from\u00a0<em>Only Murders<\/em> co-stars Martin Short and Steve Martin. Along with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Paris Hilton, Paul Rudd, Cara Delevingne, and Zoe Salda\u00f1a. Gomez, who has lupus and in 2017 suffered from complications related to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/illness\/\">chronic illness<\/a>, needed a kidney, and Ra\u00edsa was the friend who stepped up to be a donor.<\/p>\n<p>Francia and Gomez met over a decade ago, and the former apparently had a lot of mental and physical implications as a result of the operation and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/donation\/\">donation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While she and Gomez had clearly shared a valuable friendship one point in time, it seems Francia was not invited the wedding as she was posting stories from another location when the nuptials were taking place.<\/p>\n<p>She was posting videos of herself on Instagram as she danced with choreographer Sasha Farber. In the video, she wore a sports bra and leggings as she danced on the streets of Los Angeles along with the former\u00a0<em>Dancing With the Stars\u00a0<\/em>pro.<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-1034806415\" class=\"newsner-article_inside_content\">\n<div id=\"ad-modul_intext_177858_1\" class=\"ad-space\" data-google-query-id=\"CJev8N2vl5ADFf54QQIdDhgG9Q\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/125128856\/en_newsner_com\/modul_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"newsner-731e2b17ced37a76713e2007be4adf5f\" class=\"newsner-731e2b17ced37a76713e2007be4adf5f newsner-amp_article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<p>People were instantly curious about whether Francia was invited to Gomez\u2019s big day. One person questioned, \u201cSo you were not invited to the wedding?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another fan commented, \u201cYou should be the guest of honor at least in that wedding, you are her hero.\u201d\u00a0While another said, \u201cYup, had to make a post today so people will know that you were not there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The confirmed guest lists, which some publications published, did not have Francia\u2019s name in them as well. Neither Ra\u00edsa Francia nor Selena Gomez has made any comments about the situation. However, no one but the two women can confirm whether Francia was invited. And all of this is speculation by fans unless it is confirmed later by either.<\/p>\n<p>The stars who first became friends in 2007 and were once so close that they referred to each other as \u2018sisters\u2019 have seemingly grown apart ever since.<\/p>\n<p>When a decade later, Gomez was intensely ill, Francia stepped up and donated her kidney. In 2018 she talked publicly about her gesture and how her friend needed a kidney, and she had herself tested and when it turned out she was a match, she stepped up.<\/p>\n<p>She recalled how scary it was when Gomez fell to the floor once and began crying before she shared how serious her prognosis was. \u201cI was like, \u2018What is wrong with you?\u2019 She said, \u2018I need a new kidney. I don\u2019t know what I\u2019m going to do, the waitlist is seven to 10 years.\u2019 And it just came out of me, and I said, \u2018I\u2019ll get tested.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After the surgery was carried out successfully, Gomez shared a now-famous photo of the two women holding hands and lying in adjacent hospital beds.<\/p>\n<p id=\"selena-gomez-under-fire-not-inviting-woman-who-gave-her-kidney-to-wedding-68e5139b004c5-png__700\">\u201cThere aren\u2019t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much, sis,\u201d Gomez wrote in the caption.<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-551897007\" class=\"newsner-article_inside_content\">\n<div id=\"ad-modul_intext_177858_2\" class=\"ad-space\" data-google-query-id=\"CKiWjt6vl5ADFSYlBgAdByUDAw\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/125128856\/en_newsner_com\/modul_1__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"newsner-939bf9f5736fe21d32c3402a62ef4571\" class=\"newsner-939bf9f5736fe21d32c3402a62ef4571 newsner-amp_article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<p>Francia shared the picture too, writing how she was not just grateful to have helped Gomez but that she had also changed her life. Since then, there have been repeated speculations that the women are no long friends. In 2023, Francia cleared the air, citing there was \u2018no beef\u2019 between her and Selena Gomez.<\/p>\n<p>But it was reported that Francia was furious with Selena Gomez after the latter was seen drinking during a night out in New York City only a year after the transplant.<\/p>\n<p id=\"selena-gomez-under-fire-not-inviting-woman-who-gave-her-kidney-to-wedding-68e5139b004c5-png__700\">The two women apparently got into a big fight over Selena\u2019s \u201cunhealthy choices,\u201d however reportedly reconnected in 2018 when Selena checked herself into a treatment center.<\/p>\n<p>The two of them even reportedly got matching tattoos. However, in 2022, it was reported that their friendship was over for good. Fans noticed how in Apple TV+ documentary,\u00a0<em>Selena Gomez: My Mind &amp; Me<\/em>\u00a0which chronicled Gomez\u2019s health journey and rise to fame, she does not mention Francia even once.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe didn\u2019t talk for a year after that whole situation with her documentary happened,\u201d Francia said in an interview in October 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Around the time of her documentary\u2019s release, Gomez gave an interview in which she said her \u201conly friend in the industry\u201d was Taylor Swift, which was something Francia did not like. She went as far as to comment \u2018interesting\u2019 on a social media post about the interview.<\/p>\n<p>Selena commented on a TikTok post about the issue saying, \u201cSorry I didn\u2019t mention every person I know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Francia referred to the entire thing and shared in an interview that the duo did not talk to one another because she needed \u201cspace.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-610900268\" class=\"newsner-article_inside_content\">\n<div id=\"ad-modul_intext_177858_3\" class=\"ad-space\" data-google-query-id=\"CKKOwd6vl5ADFfAlBgAdNNo0cg\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/125128856\/en_newsner_com\/modul_2__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"newsner-c0413ff78f0f5b738d62abfed8124ca4\" class=\"newsner-c0413ff78f0f5b738d62abfed8124ca4 newsner-amp_article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<p>In the summer of 2023, however, it seemed that the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/actress\/\">actresses<\/a>\u00a0had reconciled as Gomez posted a heartfelt birthday wish for Francia, while months later, Francia was seen attending a benefit event for the Rare Impact Fund.<\/p>\n<p>In the same year, Francia shared on the\u00a0<em>Good Guys<\/em>\u00a0podcast that she had zero regrets about donating her kidney.<\/p>\n<p id=\"selena-gomez-under-fire-not-inviting-woman-who-gave-her-kidney-to-wedding-68e5139b004c5-png__700\">\u201cNo one forced me to do anything, she said of the donation, adding it \u201ccame out of the genuine kindness of my heart.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Later she told the media how nice it was to be friends with Gomez again. She said, \u201cWe got spray tans together. We went to some of our old favorite restaurants together.
