According to preliminary coroner findings, both died from gunshot wounds, and a firearm was recovered at the scene. They married on\u00a0<strong data-start=\"1192\" data-end=\"1212\">October 12, 2024<\/strong>, after Brandon proposed at Big Cedar Lake, a location meaningful to Rachel\u2019s family. The couple shared a love of travel, nature, and spending time with their dogs, Dash and Cedar.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1396\" data-end=\"1647\">In a social media post made hours before her death, Rachel wrote, \u201cForever chasing sunsets. Wishing we were back in Greece,\u201d referencing the couple\u2019s honeymoon. Friends remembered them as deeply devoted to each other and full of energy and optimism.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1649\" data-end=\"1881\">Rachel\u2019s obituary described her as compassionate, witty, and driven. She earned a\u00a0<strong data-start=\"1731\" data-end=\"1770\">Bachelor of Business Administration<\/strong>\u00a0from the University of Wisconsin\u2013Milwaukee and worked as a\u00a0<strong data-start=\"1830\" data-end=\"1857\">Human Resources Manager<\/strong>\u00a0at Climate Pros, LLC.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1883\" data-end=\"2187\">Brandon, a\u00a0<strong data-start=\"1894\" data-end=\"1915\">U.S. Navy veteran<\/strong>, was known for his service, generosity, and love of outdoor activities. His family highlighted his dedication to helping others and his enduring loyalty.
