He reopened dormant corruption cases, expanded immigration enforcement partnerships with ICE, and launched a new initiative targeting Chinese and Mexican cartel money laundering networks operating through Los Angeles real estate.<\/p>\n<p>Those moves made him a hero to conservatives \u2014 and a lightning rod for critics.<\/p>\n<p>Democratic leaders in California accused him of \u201cweaponizing\u201d the justice system and \u201ccriminalizing poverty,\u201d even as violent crime in the region continued to climb.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s not a prosecutor, he\u2019s an activist with a badge,\u201d said one Democratic strategist on X (formerly Twitter).<\/p>\n<p>The Ruling That Changes Nothing<\/p>\n<p>Judge Seabright\u2019s ruling stems from a narrow interpretation of federal law.
