His activism spans more than 30 years \u2014 long before climate change became a daily headline. As Vice Chair of\u00a0<em>Conservation International<\/em>, he has worked with scientists and Indigenous communities across the world to preserve rainforests, protect wildlife, and push for global action on the climate crisis.<\/p>\n<p>But lately, his tone has shifted from calm persuasion to urgent alarm. \u201cWe\u2019re past the point of pretending this is a debate,\u201d Ford said. \u201cThe evidence is everywhere \u2014 the fires, the floods, the melting ice. And yet, we still have leaders who shrug.\u201d<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>To Ford, this isn\u2019t about politics \u2014 it\u2019s about survival. \u201cYou can argue about taxes or trade,\u201d he said, \u201cbut you can\u2019t argue with physics. You don\u2019t get to rewrite the laws of nature because they don\u2019t fit your agenda.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s watched with disbelief as environmental protections were rolled back and agencies weakened. His verdict on those decisions is sharp: \u201cYou can\u2019t deregulate your way out of extinction. When the last glacier melts and the last forest burns, no policy will save us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yet even with that fire in his voice, Ford hasn\u2019t lost hope. \u201cWe\u2019ve survived so much as a species,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019ve adapted, rebuilt, and learned. I still believe we can fix this \u2014 but only if we admit we\u2019re the problem first.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For Ford, this mission is personal. As a boy, he once locked eyes with a wild fox in the woods near his childhood home \u2014 a quiet moment that, he says, changed him forever. \u201cWe\u2019re not separate from nature,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re part of it. Forgetting that is the root of everything that\u2019s gone wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now, when he\u2019s not on set or speaking at global climate forums, Ford spends much of his time on his Wyoming ranch, flying over the mountains and rivers he\u2019s spent a lifetime defending. \u201cWhen you see the planet from above, you realize how small we are,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd then you realize how much destruction we\u2019ve managed to cause despite that smallness.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"autors-widget\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>He knows some dismiss his warnings as \u201cHollywood preaching.\u201d But he doesn\u2019t care. \u201cI\u2019m not saying this because I\u2019m an actor,\u201d Ford said. \u201cI\u2019m saying it because I\u2019m a human being who wants his grandchildren to breathe clean air.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"google-auto-placed ap_container\">\n<p>Still, he ends his message with belief \u2014 not in governments, but in people. \u201cWe built this mess,\u201d he said. \u201cWe can unbuild it. But we have to stop seeing the Earth as something to use and start seeing it as something to protect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harrison Ford\u2019s words cut through the noise because they come from experience \u2014 from a man who\u2019s seen the world in all its beauty and fragility.
