Pictures on social media showed the helicopter crashing into a patch of grass at the farm, with pieces of its exterior missing. She was 43.<\/p>\n<p>Per local authorities, she struck a power line before crashing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInformation that is at our disposal indicates that the pilot was conducting a pest control operation flight when the helicopter struck power lines and crashed,\u201d the AIID said in a statement obtained by the newspaper\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.georgeherald.com\/News\/Article\/National-News\/pilot-of-fatal-eastern-cape-crash-identified-investigations-underway-202511110246\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">George Herald<\/a>. \u201cThe helicopter itself was substantially damaged due to impact force.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">TV chef Mynie Steffens dead at 43<\/h2>\n<p>Steffens was the presenter of the cooking show\u00a0<em>Speel met Vuur<\/em>, which means\u00a0<em>Play With Fire<\/em>\u00a0in Afrikaans. After the tragic incident, tributes have poured in. Her co-host, Aldi Van Der Walt, told George Herald that Steffens \u201chad a big heart, gentle soul, the glue that kept people together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMynie lived life to the full,\u201d Van Der Walt told George Herals.<\/p>\n<p>Steffens and Aldi Van Der Walt had known each other from high school. After 16 years apart, they reconnected and started the VIA TV show. Van der Walt added that it was a \u201cmassive shock.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe was always full of ideas that had transformed into successful endeavours, and then executing that with success, winning over people as she went along,\u201d Van der Walt said of her late friend and co-host. \u201cShe could make time for people from every walk of life, and that was her priority.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Approached life \u201cwith curiosity and bravery\u201d<\/h2>\n<p>VIA TV also issued a statement, writing on Facebook: \u201cRest in peace, Mynie Steffens. You were adventurous until the end. With\u00a0<em>Play With Fire<\/em>, you showed us all how to approach life with curiosity and bravery. Sleep softly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Besides television, Mynie Steffens also penned the cookbook\u00a0<em>Mynie Plays with Fire<\/em>\u00a0in 2021, filled with South African barbecue recipes cooked over an open fire.
