He went on to ask if a single person could adopt a child.<\/p>\n<p>The service said yes.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4673\" src=\"https:\/\/readupdatednews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/4-41-300x277.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/readupdatednews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/4-41-300x277.jpg 300w, https:\/\/readupdatednews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/4-41.jpg 455w\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"277\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A few months later, Jerry had in his arms a sick 18-month-old boy in an orphanage in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The baby named Jordan had scabies and intestinal parasites. The poor child was malnourished and suffered from severe infections.<\/p>\n<p>Jerry adopted the boy, nursing him back to good health. That once sickly boy went on to represent the country in the Tokyo Olympics.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4674\" src=\"https:\/\/readupdatednews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/1-40-300x280.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/readupdatednews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/1-40-300x280.jpg 300w, https:\/\/readupdatednews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/1-40.jpg 499w\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"280\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Jordan Windle was placed in a Cambodian orphanage when he was just a year old after his birth parents died. He represented the United States on the U.S. Olympic Diving Team after he took second at the Olympic trials.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4675\" src=\"https:\/\/readupdatednews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/2-48-300x273.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/readupdatednews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/2-48-300x273.jpg 300w, https:\/\/readupdatednews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/2-48.jpg 566w\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"273\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Jordan says his dad is the loudest out of everyone in the audience during his competitions. COVID restrictions then meant Jerry couldn\u2019t go to Tokyo but he still supported his son.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wish he was there, but that doesn\u2019t really change what I\u2019m going there to do: To have fun, show off a little bit, and put on a show for everyone. That\u2019s going to be my intention and I\u2019m hopefully going to make him proud,\u201d Jordan said.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4676\" src=\"https:\/\/readupdatednews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/5-41-300x273.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/readupdatednews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/5-41-300x273.jpg 300w, https:\/\/readupdatednews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/5-41.jpg 590w\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"273\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It was at summer camp when a 7-year-old Jordan impressed a man named Tim O\u2019Brien. O\u2019Brien told Jerry that Jordanreminded him of the legendary diver, Greg Louganis. A swimmer his own father coached.<\/p>\n<p>Jordan started diving at 7. He won his first national junior national championship at 9.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4677\" src=\"https:\/\/readupdatednews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/7-38-300x273.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/readupdatednews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/7-38-300x273.jpg 300w, https:\/\/readupdatednews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/7-38.jpg 600w\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"273\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Jordan never forgets his roots. He grew up in the US but he still represented Cambodia in his heart during the Olympics. He even had the Cambodian flag tattooed on his arm.<\/p>\n<p>Jerry, together with family and friends, had a watch party at home in full support of his son.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4678\" src=\"https:\/\/readupdatednews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/6-39-300x280.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/readupdatednews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/6-39-300x280.jpg 300w, https:\/\/readupdatednews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/6-39.jpg 577w\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"280\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s disappointing but at the same time this is Jordan\u2019s journey and this is the pinnacle of it, and I want him to enjoy this experience as best he can \u2026 That\u2019s what I\u2019ve always wanted for him,\u201d Jerry said.<\/p>\n<p>Jordan went on to say that he would think of his father during the competition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI tell everyone, when they ask me why I dive, I dive purely for my dad and how much he loves watching me,\u201d the athlete said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithout him making all the sacrifices that he has, and his love and support the whole time we\u2019ve been together, I really wouldn\u2019t be where I am today. I have him to thank for everything, all my accomplishments.
