A family member of Bodiford told the media that she had \u201creached out for help\u201d in her relationship with the suspect, who had an open warrant for domestic violence at the time of the killing.<\/p>\n<p>As per\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wrdw.com\/2025\/11\/11\/man-admits-murdering-his-denmark-girlfriend-burning-body\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">reports<\/a>, Davis was sentenced to 43 years behind bars for murder, along along with concurrent sentences of 15 years for third-degree arson, 10 years for desecration of destruction of human remains, and five years for possession of a weapon during a violent crime.<\/p>\n<p>Bodiford was reported missing not long after she had sent a chilling text message to a friend with an eerie prediction of her grisly fate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you don\u2019t hear from me in 30 minutes, he killed me,\u201d\u00a0that message read, as per\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/toofab.com\/2025\/11\/13\/mom-killed-if-you-dont-hear-from-me-in-30-minutes-he-killed-me\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Too Fab.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Authorities quickly began a dual search for Bodiford and Davis, who had an extensive criminal past that including charges of domestic violence.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-180297 entered lazyloaded\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-main.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/11\/14093756\/Screenshot-2025-11-14-at-10.37.42.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"764\" height=\"910\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/cdn-main.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/11\/14093756\/Screenshot-2025-11-14-at-10.37.42.png\" data-ll-status=\"loaded\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/paying-tribute-to-megan-bodiford\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Credit: GoFundMe \/ Paying Tribute To Megan Bodiford<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>On April 27, 2024, with Bodiford still missing, police arrested Davis, taking him into custody on an already-active domestic violence warrant.<\/p>\n<p>Bamberg County Sheriff\u2019s Office ultimately discovered Bodiford\u2019s remains in a burned-out vehicle on April 30. The vehicle was found about two miles from her last known location.<\/p>\n<p>Davis was charged with her murder, with arrest warrants alleging that Davis had shot and killed mom of three Bodiford on April 25, before setting the car alight while she was inside.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf he would have been locked up the way that he was supposed to be the first time, maybe he wouldn\u2019t have even gotten a chance to get this far with her,\u201d Bodiford\u2019s cousin Stephanie Nickens told WIS.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-180298 entered lazyloaded\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-main.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/11\/14093846\/Screenshot-2025-11-14-at-10.38.42.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"876\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/cdn-main.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/11\/14093846\/Screenshot-2025-11-14-at-10.38.42.png\" data-ll-status=\"loaded\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Davis was sentenced to 40 years in prison. Credit: Bamberg County Sheriff\u2019s Office<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Nickens went on to say that Bodiford had \u201creached out for help\u201d multiple times in the weeks leading up to her murder, including to Davis\u2019 parole officer and law enforcement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s always been in danger,\u201d a friend told FITSNews.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s gut-wrenching because he did not have to do all of that at all,\u201d Nickens said. \u201cI keep having this thought in my mind of how fearful she was in that moment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/paying-tribute-to-megan-bodiford\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">GoFundMe<\/a>\u00a0page, Bodiford leaves behind three daughters, aged 7, 4, and 4 months old.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rest in peace, Megan Bodiford.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A mom of three was shot to death and then set on fire after sending a worrying message to her friend.
