US TV host Billy Bush has been suspended from NBC\u2019s Today show after a video tape emerged in which he and Donald Trump made lewd comments.<\/p>\n

Today executive Noah Oppenheim wrote in a memo to the morning show\u2019s staff that there is \u201csimply no excuse for Billy\u2019s language and behaviour on that tape\u201d.<\/p>\n

Mr Bush has said he was \u201cembarrassed and ashamed\u201d at the remarks.<\/p>\n

US presidential candidate Mr Trump has also apologised for the obscene comments made in the 2005 tape.<\/p>\n

In the video, Mr Trump was on a bus talking to Mr Bush \u2013 then host of NBC\u2019s Access Hollywood \u2013 ahead of a segment they were about to record.<\/p>\n

Mr Trump says \u201cyou can do anything\u201d to women \u201cwhen you\u2019re a star\u201d and also brags about trying to grope and kiss women.<\/p>\n

Mr Bush tells Mr Trump at one point \u201cthe Donald has scored\u201d and also comments on a woman\u2019s \u201cgood legs\u201d.<\/p>\n

The presenter, who is the first cousin of former President George W Bush, has since said: \u201cIt\u2019s no excuse, but this happened 11 years ago \u2013 I was younger, less mature, and acted foolishly in playing along. I\u2019m very sorry.\u201d<\/p>\n

Top Republicans have condemned Mr Trump for the comments. His election rival Hillary Clinton called them \u201chorrific\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Republican party nominee has said \u201cthese words don\u2019t reflect who I am\u2026 I apologise\u201d.<\/p>\n

Bush\u00a0joined the Today team,\u00a0external\u00a0in August, having been anchor of\u00a0Access Hollywood,\u00a0external\u00a0since 2009 and co-host of Access Hollywood Live since 2010.<\/p>\n

Mr Oppenheim said that there would be a \u201cfurther review\u201d of the matter and did not say how long Mr Bush would be suspended for.<\/p>\n
