On Instagram, his son, music producer Abraham \u201cA.B Quintanilla III, shared the news, honoring his father\u2019s life. The cause of death has not been revealed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s with a heavy heart to let you guys know that my Dad passed away today,\u201d A.B.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DSNPFX8ETrD\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">wrote<\/a>, alongside a photo of his father. The post also included the song\u00a0<em>Cien A\u00f1os<\/em>\u00a0by Pedro Infante.<\/p>\n<p>In a longer\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reels\/DSOBIM6EfIT\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Instagram<\/a>\u00a0post, \u201cA.B\u201d wrote about his father\u2019s successful career. Born on February 20, 1939, in Corpus Cristi, Texas, he first gained recognition in the 1950s with his band The Dinos.<\/p>\n<p>Later, he would become instrumental in his daughter, Selena\u2019s, success. They founded\u00a0<em>Selena y Los Dinos<\/em>\u00a0together. Selena found humongous success, but was fatally shot in Corpus Cristi in 1995.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-abraham-quintanilla-father-of-music-icon-selena-dead-at-86\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Abraham Quintanilla, father of music icon Selena, dead at 86<\/h2>\n<p>She became a defining voice in Tejano and Latin pop music. Abraham Quintanilla managed his daughter\u2019s early performances and helped build the family band into international fame.<\/p>\n<p>After his daughter\u2019s death, he continued to look after her music legacy. He was recently featured in the Netflix documentary,\u00a0<em>Selena Y Los Dinos: A Family Legacy<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLosing \u2018SELENA\u2019 30 yrs. ago is still a daily struggle for me\u2026But losing my Dad hits differently,\u201d A.B wrote on Instagram. \u201cI felt safe knowing his love and guidance was always available when I needed it most and now I won\u2019t be able to have that anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-836399722\" class=\"newsner-article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"newsner-0b1936cf412ca4de577404abb11ed455\" class=\"newsner-0b1936cf412ca4de577404abb11ed455 newsner-amp_article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<p>The son continued, \u201cHe was a tough cookie but in this business you have to be.
