Saturday Night Live<\/em><\/a>\u00a0paid tribute to\u00a0Rob Reiner<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Less than a week after the filmmaker and his wife,\u00a0Michele Reiner<\/a>, were\u00a0killed<\/a>\u00a0by their son,\u00a0Nick Reiner<\/a>, the late-night comedy sketch series included a nod to Rob \u2014 who hosted the third episode of\u00a0SNL<\/em>\u00a0back in October 1975. (The show\u00a0premiered<\/a>\u00a0earlier that month on Oct. 11.)<\/p>\n

During the\u00a0Dec. 20 episode<\/a>, a tribute card appeared just before the show’s\u00a0goodnights segment<\/a>, showing a throwback photo of Rob.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

The episode,\u00a0SNL<\/em>‘s last of 2025, saw\u00a0Ariana Grande<\/a>\u00a0serve as host and\u00a0Cher<\/a>\u00a0perform as the musical guest. It also marked Bowen Yang’s\u00a0last as a cast member<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Rob and Michele were found\u00a0dead<\/a>\u00a0at their Los Angeles home on Sunday, Dec. 14. They were 78 and 70, respectively. Their son, Nick, 32, who has\u00a0dealt with mental health issues and drug addiction since his teen years<\/a>, has been\u00a0charged<\/a>\u00a0with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with their deaths.<\/p>\n

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner released the\u00a0causes of death for Rob and Michele<\/a>\u00a0on Wednesday, Dec. 17, three days after they were found dead. Both died of multiple sharp force injuries, and the manner of death was ruled as homicide.<\/p>\n

Nick made his\u00a0first appearance in court<\/a>\u00a0on Dec. 17. He wore a blue\u00a0anti-suicide smock and shackles<\/a>, and his attorney,\u00a0Alan Jackson<\/a>, declined to enter a plea for his client. Nick’s arraignment is scheduled to continue on Jan. 7.<\/p>\n

Rob and Michele were also parents to two other children \u2014\u00a0son Jake and daughter Romy<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 and Rob also adopted the daughter of his late\u00a0wife\u00a0Penny Marshall<\/a>, Tracy Reiner, from the beloved sitcom and screen actress’ marriage to Michael Henry.<\/p>\n

Rob, whose father is the comedy legend\u00a0Carl Reiner<\/a>, first rose to fame on\u00a0All in the Family<\/em><\/a>, playing Mike “Meathead” Stivic\u00a0on the\u00a0CBS\u00a0sitcom. The role earned him two\u00a0Emmy Awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He is known for helming many iconic projects, including his directorial debut,This Is Spinal Tap<\/em><\/a>\u00a0(1984),\u00a0plus\u00a0Stand by Me<\/em><\/a>\u00a0(1986),\u00a0The Princess Bride<\/em><\/a>\u00a0(1987),\u00a0When Harry Met Sally<\/em><\/a>\u00a0(1989),\u00a0Misery<\/em><\/a>\u00a0(1990) and\u00a0A Few Good Men<\/em><\/a>\u00a0(1992). Some of Rob’s other major roles include parts in\u00a0Sleepless in Seattle<\/em><\/a>\u00a0(1993),\u00a0Bullets Over Broadway<\/em>\u00a0(1994),\u00a0The First Wives Club<\/em><\/a>\u00a0(1996) and\u00a0The Wolf of Wall Street<\/em><\/a>\u00a0(2013),<\/p>\n

Rob and Michele\u2019s kids, Jake, 34, and Romy, 28, spoke out about the “horrific and devastating loss of our parents” in\u00a0a\u00a0statement<\/a>\u00a0days after their death.<\/p>\n
