the attorney general continued.<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_14-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_15-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">&#8220;If we need to redact faces or other information, we will, and then we&#8217;ll put it back up. So we are, in every way, shape and form, complying with the statute,&#8221; Blanche, 51, added, before he claimed that Trump has &#8220;nothing&#8221; to hide regarding the Epstein files.<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_19-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">Blanche also said during his\u00a0<em>Meet the Press<\/em>\u00a0spot, &#8220;You should not be surprised that the material that we released on Friday, or the material that we&#8217;re going to release over the next couple of weeks, is exactly what the statute requires us to release.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_20-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_21-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">When reporter\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/meet-the-press-host-kristen-welker-shares-infertility-surrogacy-journey-11749792\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\">Kristen Welker<\/a>\u00a0asked Blanche to confirm that the files were taken down &#8220;at the direction of a judge,&#8221; specifically mentioning a removed photo that seemingly showed a desk with an open drawer that contained a photo of Trump, Blanche responded, &#8220;You can see in that photo, there&#8217;s photographs of women.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_22-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_23-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">He continued, &#8220;We learned after releasing that photograph that there were concerns about those women, and the fact that we had put that photo up. So we pulled that photo down. It has nothing to do with President Trump.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_27-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">Blanche also addressed the delay in releasing the entirety of the files, stating that the statute &#8220;requires us to protect victims, and so the reason why we are still reviewing documents and still continuing our process is simply that \u2014 to protect victims.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_28-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_29-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">PEOPLE reached out to the DOJ&#8217;s Office of Public Affairs for comment on Sunday, Dec. 21, but did not receive an immediate response.<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_30-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_31-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">The DOJ&#8217;s release of files on Dec. 19 consisted of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/doj-releases-new-epstein-files-featuring-new-photos-but-heavily-redacted-court-documents-11853245\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\">five different data sets<\/a>, containing roughly 3,900 files.<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_32-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_33-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">They included a wide range of documents and photos, including a full scanned copy of the book\u00a0<em>Massage for Dummies<\/em>, a fully redacted 119-page grand jury filing and a police report in which a young woman alleged that Epstein threatened to burn down her house.<\/p>\n<div data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\">would not be able to release the Epstein files in full<\/a>, despite the Act&#8217;s requirement that all files be released within 30 days.<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_37-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_38-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">In a post on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/DAGToddBlanche\/status\/2002136486297149937?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\">X<\/a>, Blanche said the department needed more time to complete redactions in the hundreds of thousands of pages of documents data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"3\">Kevin Spacey<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/tag\/michael-jackson\/\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"4\">Michael Jackson<\/a>\u00a0and more high-profile celebrities and political figures.<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_46-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_47-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">Epstein died in August 2019 at age 66. He was found\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/crime\/jeffrey-epstein-found-injured-nyc-jail-cell\/\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\">hanging<\/a>\u00a0inside a jail cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City, where he was awaiting trial on federal conspiracy and sex trafficking charges.
