At just 16-years-old, Josie tipped the scales at 280Ibs and knew something had to give. Unhappy with her body, she was constantly reminded of how other girls looked as she scrolled through her Instagram feed and saw slim, attractive models smiling back at her.<\/p>\n<p>She\u2019d tried diets before, but her failure to stick to them left her on a spiralling staircase of self-pity and excess junk food.<\/p>\n<p>Eventually, she decided it was time to put her foot down \u2026<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.boredpanda.com\/bullied-student-loses-63-kilos-formal-dress-josephine-desgrand\/?utm_source=facebook&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=BPFacebook\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Speaking to Bored Panda<\/a>, Josie explained her \u2018Eureka!\u2019 moment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI went into my room and stripped down to my underwear,\u201d she said. Then she made a deal with herself. \u201cNo longer fat Josie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI took pictures of myself at different angles, excited for my next weight loss journey. I used tape measure and wrote down my dimensions knowing I had a long way to go, but I wanted to track every change, no matter how small.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_23879\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23879\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-23879 entered lazyloaded\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-main.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2018\/11\/05222707\/es12.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"730\" height=\"724\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/cdn-main.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2018\/11\/05222707\/es12.jpg\" data-ll-status=\"loaded\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-23879\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/nolongerfatjosie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Instagram<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Josie set herself small targets and began to keep track of he progress. Before long, the 16-year-old noticed changes here and there. She adopted a low-carb, no-sugar diet and upped her water intake.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside her dad \u2013 who joined her weight-loss journey by shedding the pounds himself \u2013 she was able to slim down to 198Ibs through dieting alone.<\/p>\n<p>It was then that she kicked things up a notch by joining a gym.<\/p>\n<p>She said:\u00a0\u201cWorking out at the gym gave me the extra push to reach my goal weight.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_23881\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23881\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-23881 size-full entered lazyloaded\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-main.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2018\/11\/05222707\/insta12.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"730\" height=\"696\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/cdn-main.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2018\/11\/05222707\/insta12.jpg\" data-ll-status=\"loaded\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-23881\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/nolongerfatjosie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Instagram<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Instead of being a source of envy and depression, Instagram became one of Josie\u2019s strongest motivators. She began to accumulate followers who not only wanted to see her transformation, but also take tips and advice.<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-1193590857\" class=\"newsner-article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"newsner-10b625e100b0f8430e6f154c8e02b2b5\" class=\"newsner-10b625e100b0f8430e6f154c8e02b2b5 newsner-amp_article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI shared my meals and progress on my Instagram account\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/nolongerfatjosie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">@nolongerfatjosie<\/a>. My followers quickly grew, and each was more supportive than the last. \u2018You look great!\u2019 They wrote. \u2018Mmm, do you have the recipe?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith people from all around the world along for my journey, I never thought about quitting. Putting aside an hour each night, I responded to every person.
