But video footage tells a different story, showing Renee attempting to drive away when Ross fired three times, fatally wounding her.<\/p>\n<p>At the time,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\">Trump<\/a>\u00a0took to Truth Social to put the blame squarely on Renee.<\/p>\n<p>Vice President\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/jd-vance\">JD Vance<\/a>\u00a0echoed a similar line, claiming that Renee was \u201cbrainwashed\u201d and implying \u2014 without any evidence \u2014 that she was connected to a \u201cbroader, left-wing network.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-183910 entered lazyloaded\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-main.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2026\/01\/13083735\/redf-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"521\" height=\"403\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/cdn-main.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2026\/01\/13083735\/redf-1.jpg\" data-ll-status=\"loaded\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Facebook<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>At the same time, Renee is being mourned by much of the country, her wife, her children, and other loved ones.<\/p>\n<p>Renee\u2019s former father\u2011in\u2011law told\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/renee-goods-former-father-law-says-was-great-person-prays-grandson-rcna253797\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">NBC<\/a>\u00a0that he always had a good relationship with her and remembered her as \u201coutgoing\u201d and \u201ca real good person.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-1423875482\" class=\"newsner-article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"newsner-81282cfc851ac30d746216cb9f1fad2c\" class=\"newsner-81282cfc851ac30d746216cb9f1fad2c newsner-amp_article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<h2 id=\"h-trump-s-message\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Trump\u2019s message<\/h2>\n<p>Her death last Wednesday has been \u201creally hard\u201d on the family, Tim Macklin Sr. told reporters.\u202f Macklin explained that Good and his son, Tim Macklin Jr., were married for about five years before they separated. They shared a 6\u2011year\u2011old son, one of her three children. Macklin Jr. died in 2023 at age 36, according to an online obituary.<\/p>\n<p>The elder Macklin, a preacher from Knoxville, said he stayed in touch with Good over the years and that she would often bring his grandson to visit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think she\u2019s a great person,\u201d he said, reflecting on her life and the family\u2019s loss.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-spoke-with-the-father\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Spoke with the father<\/h2>\n<p>On Tuesday, CBS Evening News anchor Tony Dokoupil told President Trump that he had spoken with Renee Good\u2019s father \u2014 and was surprised to learn he is a Republican and a supporter of the president, despite the administration\u2019s stance on the Minneapolis shooting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been speaking to her father, who is a big supporter of yours, like many Americans are, but he\u2019s heartbroken right now,\u201d Dokoupil said during the interview, noting the father\u2019s pain over both his daughter\u2019s death and the administration\u2019s quick labeling of her as a \u201cdomestic terrorist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, I want to say to the father that I love all of our people,\u201d Trump replied. \u201cThey can be on the other side, as you say, he might be on my side. Law enforcement should not be in a position where they have to put up with this stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He went on to call Renee and her wife\u2019s actions \u201coutrageous.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-supports-trump\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Supports Trump<\/h2>\n<p>On Tuesday, speaking to CNN\u2019s\u00a0<em>Erin Burnett OutFront<\/em>, Macklin made it clear he also supports Trump but added that he felt the situation surrounding Renee Good\u2019s death was \u201chard for everybody involved.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not blaming anybody,\u201d Macklin said. \u201cI mean, the ICE agent, you know, at first I didn\u2018t see the footage where\u2026 he was actually being rammed. I mean, I\u2018ve seen the bumper of the car hitting his legs.
