Machado, after escaping Venezuela by sea, appeared in December 2025 to accept the award.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Run the country\u2019<br \/>\nThe turning point came on Jan. 3, when U.S. military forces reportedly conducted a surprise raid on Venezuelan President Nicol\u00e1s Maduro\u2019s residence in Caracas, according to CNN. Maduro and his wife were transported to the United States, where they face charges including narco-terrorism. Both will remain in custody until their court hearing scheduled for March 17 in New York.<\/p>\n<p>Following Maduro\u2019s capture, the POTUS said the U.S. \u201cwill run\u201d Venezuela and also seize the country\u2019s massive oil reserves.<\/p>\n<p>Trump dismissed Machado as successor<br \/>\nSupporting Trump\u2019s role in Maduro\u2019s ouster, Machado publicly praised his involvement. \u201cPresident Trump\u2019s leadership and courage has brought Nicol\u00e1s Maduro to face justice and this is huge,\u201d Machado said, as reported by BBC.<\/p>\n<p>Despite her support, the U.S. president has continued to dismiss Machado as a credible successor to Maduro.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it would be very tough for her to be the leader,\u201d Trump said after Maduro\u2019s capture, referring to Machado. \u201cShe doesn\u2019t have the support within or the respect within the country. She\u2019s a very nice woman, but she doesn\u2019t have the respect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But what happened next stunned the world.<\/p>\n<p>Shocking handover<br \/>\nOn Jan. 15, Machado met with Trump during a private visit to the White House.<\/p>\n<p>There, she handed over her Nobel Peace Prize medal \u2013 a physical, symbolic gesture in recognition of Trump\u2019s role in ending Venezuela\u2019s dictatorship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo President Donald J. Trump In Gratitude for Your Extraordinary Leadership in Promoting Peace through Strength,\u201d reads the text above the medal.<\/p>\n<p>Below, it reads: \u201cThe 2025 Nobel Peace Prize Medal awarded to Mar\u00eda Corina Machado.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"autors-widget\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>In an interview with Fox News, Machado said she gave the prestigious prize to Trump \u201cbecause he deserves it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI decided to present the Nobel Peace Prize medal on behalf of the people of Venezuela,\u201d she added.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2018For the work I have done\u2019<br \/>\nOn Truth Social, the 79-year-old president expressed his gratitude for Machado gifting him a shiny new medal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was my Great Honor to meet Mar\u00eda Corina Machado, of Venezuela, today,\u201d wrote Trump, who has not changed his position on Machado taking Maduro\u2019s old position as president. \u201cShe is a wonderful woman who has been through so much. Mar\u00eda presented me with her Nobel Peace Prize for the work I have done. Such a wonderful gesture of mutual respect. Thank you Mar\u00eda!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Embarrassing\u2019<br \/>\nFollowing news that Machado had handed her Nobel Peace Prize medal to Trump, outrage quickly spread online.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"google-auto-placed ap_container\">\n\u201cHuge honor. That manic, childlike grin over a \u201cNobel\u201d that isn\u2019t his was never hers to give, and couldn\u2019t be transferred anyway. Pure, unfiltered narcissism on display. Embarrassing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Decision is final\u2019<br \/>\nThough Trump now holds the Nobel Peace Prize medal, the Norwegian Nobel Committee made it unequivocally clear: that does not make him a Nobel laureate.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement posted to its official website on Jan. 9, the committee stated, \u201cThe facts are clear and well established. Once a Nobel Prize is announced, it cannot be revoked, shared, or transferred to others.
