His sisters are waiting for him.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe stopped life support, and the machines went dark. I held my hand on his chest until his heart stopped beating. And he was gone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Though devastated, the couple made a pact: they would not let despair define their lives. There\u2019s these three babies, and they\u2019re all joy\u2026 But at the same time, I was trying to avoid falling apart in front of them. I\u2019d go into the other room and cry real quick and come back and put a smile on my face.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A friend described Lori as \u201cextraordinary \u2014 everybody who knows her, loves her. First and foremost, she\u2019s a mom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But heartbreak returned in June 2025. Chris noticed Lori becoming unusually clumsy \u2014 bumping into walls, dropping glasses, stubbing her toes. By early July, stroke-like symptoms appeared. \u201cHer mouth started to droop a little bit,\u201d Chris said. \u201cIt became too much to ignore.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-aggressive-brain-cancer\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Aggressive brain cancer<\/h2>\n<p>Tests revealed a large, aggressive stage 4 glioblastoma.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was hoping we were done with the life-changing, life-altering disasters where life as you knew it yesterday is gone,\u201d Chris said.<\/p>\n<p>Over the following months, Lori underwent two brain surgeries, endured a stroke, and spent 40 days in the hospital, with Chris by her side nearly every day. She returned home to begin chemotherapy and radiation, but the treatments left her exhausted and struggling to speak. Later, doctors discovered a severe infection in her brain requiring yet another surgery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou feel like she\u2019s just being tortured,\u201d Chris told People. \u201cI\u2019m not sure that the treatment for cancer in this situation is any better than the disease itself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"entered lazyloaded\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FChrisCoble%2Fposts%2Fpfbid02pYPJmgjQycJABBNgtjGNQqkTey18vgwpXek5F8kAgkDSYYGyEBVkWPwjgVeYABpLl&amp;show_text=false&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-rocket-lazyload=\"fitvidscompatible\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FChrisCoble%2Fposts%2Fpfbid02pYPJmgjQycJABBNgtjGNQqkTey18vgwpXek5F8kAgkDSYYGyEBVkWPwjgVeYABpLl&amp;show_text=false&amp;width=500\" data-ll-status=\"loaded\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>By December, Lori was able to do a Zoom interview, but the day before, she was hospitalized again for pneumonia. Shortly after, she was placed in hospice care at home, where her family could surround her in comfort during her final days.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m trying to make every day the best I can make it for her,\u201d Chris said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t want to have any regrets for the rest of my life that I didn\u2019t do everything possible every day for her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Announcing her passing on Facebook, Chris wrote: \u201cLori passed at 9:25 pm this evening.\u201d According to a family friend, Lori passed away surrounded by her family.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Cobles\u2019 story \u2014 from devastating loss to miraculous new beginnings \u2014 is a testament to resilience, love, and the human spirit.
