He was at the White House in Washington alongside First Lady Melania Trump.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-6\">\n<div id=\"readupdatednews.com_responsive_2\" data-google-query-id=\"CMS9qqmM8ZIDFYduHQkdfjgBiA\">\n<p>During a press conference later that morning, Ric Bradshaw, sheriff of Palm Beach County, said the incident happened around 1:30 a.m. ET. A security alert warned that someone had entered the property.<\/p>\n<p>Two Secret Service agents and one sheriff\u2019s deputy went to the north gate, where they found a white male carrying a shotgun and a gasoline can.<\/p>\n<div data-google-query-id=\"CLaCtqmM8ZIDFStEHQkd7vkPfg\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-23380\" src=\"https:\/\/readupdatednews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/GettyImages-903944616-2048x1462-1-300x214.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/readupdatednews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/GettyImages-903944616-2048x1462-1-300x214.jpg 300w, https:\/\/readupdatednews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/GettyImages-903944616-2048x1462-1-1024x731.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/readupdatednews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/GettyImages-903944616-2048x1462-1-768x548.jpg 768w, https:\/\/readupdatednews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/GettyImages-903944616-2048x1462-1-1536x1097.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/readupdatednews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/GettyImages-903944616-2048x1462-1.jpg 2048w\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"214\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was ordered to drop those two pieces of equipment that he had with him, at which time he put down the gas can [and] raised the shotgun to a shooting position,\u201d the sheriff said.<\/p>\n<p>Gunman shot dead at Mar-a-Lago identified as Austin Tucker Martin, 21<br \/>\n\u201cAt that point in time, the deputy and the two Secret Service agents fired their weapons and neutralized the threat. He is deceased at the scene.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bradshaw confirmed that none of the officers were injured. He also said it was unclear whether the shotgun was loaded. A photo of the gun and fuel canister was later shared with reporters.<\/p>\n<p>At first, authorities did not release the man\u2019s identity. Later Sunday, the Associated Press reported that investigators identified the man as Austin Tucker Martin, 21, citing a source who spoke anonymously due to the ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n<p>In another statement, the Secret Service said the suspect was in his early 20s and from North Carolina. His family had reported him missing just days earlier.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-23381\" src=\"https:\/\/readupdatednews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/austin-768x786-1-293x300.png\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 293px) 100vw, 293px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/readupdatednews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/austin-768x786-1-293x300.png 293w, https:\/\/readupdatednews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/austin-768x786-1.png 768w\" alt=\"\" width=\"293\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said investigators believe the man traveled from North Carolina and picked up the shotgun on the way. The gun\u2019s box was found inside his vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>Investigation is ongoing<br \/>\nTrump\u2019s private living quarters are located in a separate building on the property. Mar-a-Lago is also a members-only club used by wealthy guests and is often the site of political events and visits by world leaders.<\/p>\n<p>The White House later released a statement praising law enforcement for their actions and said federal agencies are \u201cfully engaged\u201d in reviewing what happened.<\/p>\n<p>In a separate statement, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said it is \u201cconducting a full review of the individual\u2019s background, movements and digital footprint.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rick Bradshaw said there is currently no evidence that the suspect intended to target a specific individual.
