His necklace apparently fell in between the gap where the cord and charger were,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unilad.com\/news\/us-news\/boy-nearly-dies-electrocuted-phone-charged-055768-20251202?fbclid=IwY2xjawOc4IpleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETEzRVlIRE1GbEM0VnJDbHBEc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHuWCA1sG6s7_-_u1nHsyHt5fknAHc8MU1PIfn8ZRXzsVraJuX7p1b2L2JEl__aem_yv3-zjvIL43939t8TRVTYw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">according<\/a>\u00a0to his mom.<\/p>\n<p>The eight-year-old was then shocked by the charger. He tried to shout for help, but was unable to because he was actively being\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/accident\/\">electrocuted<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He was aware enough to take off the necklace, which ultimately saved his life. According to medical professionals who later examined the little boy, he might not have survived had he not been present enough to survive the scary ordeal.<\/p>\n<p>Courtney Pendleton, his mother\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kwch.com\/2025\/11\/25\/8-year-old-wichita-nearly-dies-electric-shock\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">said<\/a>, \u201cThe lady had told him had he not pulled that chain off, he would have been electrocuted to death. So he basically saved his own life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lorenzo later said about the ordeal, \u201cI guess I saved myself, and I\u2019m happy about that.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-1493152159\" class=\"newsner-article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"newsner-9b77ba3fae591875d276b248c4a457b4\" class=\"newsner-9b77ba3fae591875d276b248c4a457b4 newsner-amp_article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<p>He went on to share his feelings in the moment, \u201cIt was just scary. I almost thought I was going to die.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lorenzo is expected to remain in the hospital for a while and has to have skin graft surgery as well. He is thankfully on the way to recovery.<\/p>\n<p>The skin graft surgery involved doctors taking skin from the 8-year-old\u2019s scalp, legs, and feet for a transplant.<\/p>\n<p>The family has set up a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/be-a-part-of-lorenzos-fearless-fight?attribution_id=sl:9cdcb312-d9ee-49e8-ac17-ed794e2032d1&amp;lang=en_US&amp;ts=1764597734&amp;utm_campaign=man_sharesheet_dash&amp;utm_content=amp17_td&amp;utm_medium=customer&amp;utm_source=copy_link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">GoFundMe<\/a>\u00a0page to help cover the medical expenses arising from the ordeal.<\/p>\n<p>In an update posted by his mom on the page, she wrote, \u201cToday was a rough day for Lorenzo, he has been sore all day and kinda in a sad mood I think he is getting home sick.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lorenzo\u2019s mother is now trying to raise awareness about the dangers of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/children\/\">children<\/a>\u00a0sleeping near plugged devices and is asking\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/parent\/?page=2\">parents<\/a>\u00a0to make sure they avoid similar situations as her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParents \u2014 please, please don\u2019t let your kids sleep with electronics or charging cords on their bed.
