Exceptions exist for certain institutionalized individuals, ministers, elected officials, and others, and students may request postponements.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1863\" data-end=\"2082\">Under current law,\u00a0<strong data-start=\"1882\" data-end=\"1920\">women are not required to register<\/strong>\u00a0for the draft, though the topic has been discussed in Congress.
